im changing my rear differential fluid so now that i have my diff cover off there is a purpulish white film coverin the inside of the differential prbably caused from water getting into it. What can i clean this with, a rag? thanks in advance

You could spray it down with brake cleaner etc. Just let it evaporate afterwards, it leaves no residue.

If water had gotten into it, it would be a milky color. Sounds like you had a synthetic oil of some type in it. Which is not bad. :) Get a spritzer (hand sprayer) and use it to really flush out around the gears. I use lacquerer thinner it evaporates really quickly. Try not to get the cleaner down the tubes. It will stay there.
