My '97 XJ is not driven often, perhaps 1K miles per year, current mileage is 101K. Once a year I lubricate the suspension components with a conventional Valvoline grease which contains Moly. From the garage floor drips, it appears that this grease is breaking down, not a lot but enough to leave a drip from the tie rod ends etc. Is a synthetic grease less prone to this or is it something that will have to be tolerated? Yes, the tube of grease is old, at least ten year or so. Can that be a factor? YIA!
