I have no reverse lights and want to fix them. I have tested for power and have it at the plug. I have pulled the switch to test it and it works. Is there any adjustment for the switch to make contact with the linkage that is inside ?

I don't know of one for the T4/5 transmission. The only thing that could be wrong with that switch (other than switch failure) is it not being installed deep enough.

Mine threads all the way in, nothing stoping it. I used a test light and it lit up when pressed in. I'm thinking somethings not making contact.

Does the switch work when installed? Install the switch, put a continuity meter on both leads. The circuit should be open. Put the shifter in the reverse position (Do I need to say to make sure the engine isn't running???) and the circuit should be closed (the meter should tone when closed).

If the switch works as installed and the lights still don't work, you've likely got an issue with the wiring further back towards the reverse lights. Check for a good ground.

Not trying to be a jack a$$ but have you checked to make sure the light bulbs aren't burnt out, socket and contacts not corroded, wires haven't eaten away over time. Some times it's the little things that cause the biggest problems.

While your switch may technically still work, it's possible the switch will work only if the ball is pressed in farther than your transmission will press it.

A new switch may not need to be pressed as far to actuate.

You might be right about the switch, it is possible that it is worn out. I have two used switches and both seam to be about the same, although one is harder to push than the other. I guess I'll have to spend a few bucks to find out.

I have the same problem, fitting new switch (T150)( three different ones) none are long enough to actuate the ball even when fully seated???? GIVEN UP FOR NOW

I'm going to keep at it, I really want a reverse light. I don't have stock lights anymore and I'm going to hook up a utility light.

Can you access the backup switch under the cover where your gear shifter or under the transfer case shifter cover?
For a T4 or T5 transmission, the switch contacts a lever inside the transmission itself, not the shifter lever housing.

Too bad for us the switch is not adjustable. I tested the switch again and it needs to be completely pushed in to operate. When I get a new switch I will test too see how much it needs to be pushed in to operate, before installing it. We'll see.....

I have pulled my switch out and used a cut off wheel on my bench grinder. I ground the shoulder back, where it sits flush when it is threaded all the way in. I ground it so it went about an 1/8" deeper than normal, now it works great.
