OK so I had the click click no start yesterday and called in a tow truck, and right when the truck showed up it fired up . Anyways , went and bought a new starter from Auto-zone 104 + 60 core...crawled underneath the driver wheel and that thing looked almost impossible to remove I mean the exhaust pipe in the way then the big solid cross member that runs from side to side. I have the shop manual but it doesn't say anything as far as what needs to be removed in order to remove the starter, Also did some search on here and noticed that the wire connector on the solenoid is corroded which might be the problem. Either way, how in the world do you take this thing out :( ........HAAAALP.

Thanks.

No need to remove anything but the starter. It's not easy, but it will drop down through that mess if you turn it just the right way. I was cursing alot but once I had it in the right position it basically fell out and the new one slipped right in the same way. It may be easier to remove your drivers side wheel well liner. I didn't think to do that at the time but it may give you a better view.

It's a very basic job, just awkward to get to. Good luck.

I would first start with replacing the terminal on the solenoid wire. I described in a post I wrote last year. I bet you that's your problem and not the starter. Do this first before wasting money on the starter.

Had the same problem...I can almost bet 100% it's that connection. I was about to replace the starter as well until I crawled under and saw how bad that connection looked. Replaced and haven't had a problem since, which has been over a year now. (Knock On Wood)

The factory connector was a poor design and hence the problem. I would use a female blade connector and make it weatherproof with shrink tubbing. Make sure to clean the solenoid male end of the connector and coat everything with die-electric grease. clean battery cable connections while you're in there.

Hello all, my roomie has a 2008 liberty and it appears the starter is dead. I'm not familiar with the Liberty, can someone take a photo of their starter and or this connecting wire?

*ahh sorry, wrong forum haha
