hey if i took out my security system box and some of the other little stuff would that do anything to the jeep or does that have to stay in. because i disconnected the alarm horn so i dont really need the whole system anymore. thanks.

I am pretty sure you have to leave it in there or else your car will not start. I could be wrong but I think thats right.

The security system in my '93 ZJ is a real PIA! I have to unlock the rear hatch lock first in order to disarm the alarm. I wish I could find a way to just get rid of it!

Ground the Purple/Yellow wire in the drivers kick panel. That's how I disabled mine for my 95ZJ Limited. But leave everything in. If you start pulling/disconnecting things, you'll open a big can of worms (hornets)

also i found 7 wires in the security system wire bundle that look like they have been cut, but i never did anything like that, they must have been from the factory like that they are:
pink
white
tan
light green
black w/ green stripe
thick yellow wire
thin yellow wire

The security system is designed to make it difficult to get around it so it is secure. So there is no single fuse to pull without disabling the whole jeep. the best workaround found so far is the purple/yellow wire trick mentioned above. Or, you can install a new wire harness.:tea:

I don't know about yours, but the IR remotes used in the first three years of GC production suck. You have to point it right at the sensor and even then it only works when you are pretty close to the vehicle. Mine only worked when I was standing at the window, so I grounded the wire and called it good.

I highly recommend to anyone who owns a 93-95 ZJ to do the same. The alarm get's crazy the older it gets. Ground the wire and all problems with security go away. If you still want a security system, I recommend buying a good one and letting the factory one rot in peace.

is there only one purple/yellow wire. is it purple with a yellow stripe? because i found one but it goes into a plug unit thing and comes out the other side.
Yes... it will be mostly purple with a yellow stripe. I did my 95ZJ about 6 months ago when I put in an aftermarket alarm/remote start.... and as I recall, it was the only wire I found that was purple with a yellow stripe on the drivers side kick panel. I think it was in the area of the underdash light.

If you are not sure it's the correct one, you could check it for voltage and then if none, run it to ground and see if the system is disabled.
