I'm a fan of curt. Bought their products a couple times, good quality, fits perfect.
I believe they are made in USA too.
Not sure on Reese.

 

Well I like the built in the USA part. When you say you bought a couple, do you same part same car or different part different car?

 

Different vehicles. Hitch on my wife's outback so I can put the bike rack on it. Front hitch on my Silverado for plowing the driveway.

 

Your towing cap is 5k. Its a 20 year old vehicle. Which do you think will fail first, jeep or hitch. Either is fine.

I hear you. Reese has been around forever, I’m certain they’re probably the better brand and Curt got the advantage when there Reese had a manufacturing issue. I could be a brand whore and go for the U-haul which costs almost 3x as much.
I’m going to tow a 16 foot camper with it. Specs on the camper are 3000 dry plus 1500 loaded. I’m assuming that means water is full. Sewage is full and fridge is filled plus camping gear.
That puts me at a Class IV hitch and receiver. I was just trying to see if I could Tally some votes on which one would better in the sense of ease of installation and durability and if there is a warranty issue which company has better customer service.

 

There is a Curt Mfg. Here in Eau Claire, Wi.
They employ a lot of hard workers here.
My vote goes to Curt.
When I brought my ZJ in for the hitch recall, they installed a Curt hitch.

Both are good. Reese has way more retailers and distributors, but Curt is good too.
