Noticed my amc 20 diff was leaking pretty good out of nowhere the other day, so went and bought a pinion seal. No biggie did my dana 30 not so long ago, pretty easy to pop the nut and yoke off replace and re tighten to tight but not tight enough.
For my Amc 20 though, took a bit of muscle from my impact but it came off. The yoke wouldn't slip off, I tried nicely first with a gentle hammer and penetration fluid. Then moved to a gear puller that just popping off, and heating it good. Finally I fab-ed up a crude puller that would bolt into the yoke strap holes. Worked it with my impact until the welds failed.
At this point I'm assuming the splines are rolled, it hasn't moved at all. I'm at a loss of what to do to just change out the seal. Its leaking good, could I just play dumb let it drain then drive around with some what less fluid in it? Fingers cross and hope for the best??
