I have a 2018 Altitude. I looked around the forum and could not find posts about the radio screen delaminating. I am sure there is one but I could not find it. I have about 80K miles on my GC and am the original owner. I know there have been a lot of issues with screens delaminating. What have people done to have it replaced at no charge? This should not be happening on a 2018 vehicle in my opinion.

Perhaps a good start here:

I am having the same issue! I just took why car into my local dealership last week to have the issue looked at. I bought mine used 4/2021 with 36,000 miles and no extended warranty. They just got back to me this week telling me that it will cost me $500 to have the radio replaced. I just called into Jeep customer service and they have escilated the issue and are supposed to be calling me back. I just think its crazy to pay that amount when this is a known issue that so many people have had!

$500 is a lot better than some owners have been told by the dealer. I just read on another forum where the dealer said it would cost the owner $2,000 plus labor to replace his delaminating screen radio.

There are some DIY youtube videos that show how people have fixed the problem on their own for less than $20. It's not a 10 minute procedure but it can beat paying hundreds or thousands of dollars vs a dealer replacing it if you're bit handy and willing to spend the time.

Here's one of them.

Call U-Connect at at 877-855-8400 option #9, explain the issue and file a case. They will give you a case number and have you take your Jeep GC into the dealership to be checked/verified asap (do this within 14 days of creating your case or they close it out). Then call them back and let them know you completed the check and a case manager will call you back within 24 hours. From there, they will send it for approval and then set everything up with the dealership to get it replaced (this is the step I am at with mine). The manufacturer of the radio has agreed to pay for replacements of the radios that are delaminating, so you do not have to pay anything out of pocket!

I had the same problem and was told it was caused by the touch screen delaminating which was causing the touch screen to think I was pushing buttons, so about a month and a half ago I called Uconnect Customer Support at 800-826-6632 about the delaminating screen on my 2018 Jeep Compass Trail Hawk, they gave me a case number and told me to set up an appointment with a local Jeep dealer to have them verify the delaminating screen and give them the case number and get an estimate for replacement and call them back with the info. Today I got my Uconnect radio replaced at no cost to me. It worked for me and only cost me my time, so if you're having similar issues, I would recommend giving them a call.

I've heard, that this is a Jeep thing, not a third party warranty. "The manufacturer of the radio has agreed to pay for replacements of the radios that are delaminating, so you do not have to pay anything out of pocket!"

Often dealers will charge a diagnosis fee up front (or more commonly put a hold on your credit card) and then once the warranty work is done, it is refunded.
