Installing a new PCM on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler and now I have a no crank no start condition once new PCM is installed. Work for a garage that has no book for the Jeep and our "generic" computer data program is no help. So far I've used the DRB III to set up the current mileage and reset and saved the vehicle VIN within the PCM. What am I missing? There is a code setting in the PCM: P1602 PCM not programmed. PCM is not an aftermarket reman, came in a mopar box from a local dealership. Thanks in advance.

You ever get a fix for this?
I have an 05 TJ and the exact same problem.
Three codes come up now
P1602 (Mileage not programmed)
P0700 (Transmission)
P0630 (VIN not programmed)

The parts guy said that it needs to be programmed, but thought it would have run so that I could take it in to program. Apparently not.

So....should I tow it in to program or is there another option?

Great news, I suppose. It would have been nice if the dealer that sold it to me would have offered programming before they shipped, but glad it will work out.
Dumb question, but I didn't see any real threads about new computers needing VIN/Mileage programming before they would even function. Is this a common Q&A and my search just sucks?

Do you have a black or gray ignition key?...

there are a few threads on the topic, but not a ton. its a problem that seems to be growing as it mostly happens to the 06 right around 70k miles +/- 10k

the only reason I looked into it was the gf's jeep has the had the hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. hers is an 06 with 68k on it

just back from the dealer. They say it should run without programming since I don't have the sentry key.
They also say it can't be programmed outside of the vehicle.

called another Jeep dealer and they said the same thing.

This is the dumbest problem I've ever had with a vehicle.
Are these folks misinformed, or is there something else possibly going on?

None of the Jeeps in our fleet have SKIM. That was something we checked by calling the dealership where the helpfull parts guy was able to look up the vehicle build. We ended up sending it to the dealership who said they programmed it. Didn't give me an answer as to what they did specifically so I don't have a solution. To restate, I had programmed in the VIN and mileage using the DRB III, it's too bad I don't have an answer.

I believe they were actually able to program the computer after all Monday morning. They must have just not worked on my car. Amazingly, the car was ready by 11am Monday. It would surprise me that they could get a new PCM that quickly. Starts and runs now without any codes after 150miles.
