Thats plenty of oil pressure. Your fine.

 

I have Mobil 1 5W 30 in my 2000 4.0 from the winter and I still get 30-40 idle and 40-55 cruisin. Swappin it out for the Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 in a month or so, hoping itll remedy the steady drip i got from goin syn.

 

Pressure sounds fine, would recommend 10w30 for summer though

 

manual says 13 at hot idle is acceptable--that's abou where I'm at. So I think you are more that fine,

 

My oil pressure on my 99 4.0 seems low it is at about 20 at idle when warm and go to about 30 or 40 when driving. When outside temps ar higher it seems to be at the lowest. What is considered normal. I here some say put heavier oil in the summer, The garage is putting 5w30 when oil is changed.

Sounds perfect. Use 5W30 all year round.

you got more pressure at hot idle than most. my 99 runs 22psi at hot idle. these 4.0l can take almost 6-8psi before they will knock. and i personally have known a high mileage xj that was at 10psi hot idle for years with no ill effects. so as long as the motor is taken care of you should be at 20 hot idle for years! mike

 

My xj idles 38psi hot idle, 60 running

 

yeah mines at 40 idle and 60ish driving.

 

just got a 99 xj with 222k on it. the oil pressure was around 30ish and i know thats fine. i did a oil change and put rotella t4 15w30 and now i have a tick. the engine was quite now sounds like a exhaust gasket and a lifter. did i just screwed up .

 

also i forgot my oil pressure is now at 50+ do i need to change oil?
