Hi all! New to the forum, and I just got a new to me 2007 WK Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7 Hemi! The first couple of things I have done is a Magnaflow cat back exhaust and a K & N cold air intake.

One thing I have noticed around 1500-2000 there is almost a clicking whisping or ticking sound that is echoing from the underside. Does anyone know what that might be? I first noticed it when I installed a Flowmaster muffler. I didn't like the sound of the Flowmaster so I switched to the Magnaflow. I also thought it might have been the shotty install the guy did...another reason I wanted to switch to the Magnaflow.

I am going to the Transmission Dr tomorrow evening to get a flush and inspection to check everything out.

The ticking from underside sounds like a leak in the exhaust or the exhaust manifold, seeing that it was not there until the work was done. Hate to say it but you are another subject of marketing BS, and those 2 mods are just noisemakers and a waste of money. Ask anyone who's installed and removed them; the Hemi runs worse than stock, with loss of low end torque and very poor tip in throttle response. Been there done that with Magnaflow and AFE II, now have stock intake and exhaust back on, and it drives far better, without all the racket. If you want real mods that do something, get a ported TB, catch can, and CMR tuned Diablosport Intune. My 5.7 has 86k and runs SO much better now than it did new, there is no comparison; best 0-60 logged at 5.2, with stock intake and exhaust.
Also, DO NOT flush the Trans, just change the filters and the fluid. The Trans Dr is not the right place, just go to the dealer. You only need to change the fluid every 100k if it is normal street driving.

Mine, does the same thing. I always just assumed it was the "hemi tick". But I also have the stock exhaust and intake.

I am really not liking the sound. I might have to change it back lol. I like the sound of the exhaust minus the tick noise.

I'm really not hearing a lot of air noise when I'm driving.

The next thing I am trying to get is the lift. Anyone used or got any info on the springs that Rustys Offroad makes like the OME springs?

Welcome,

Could be hemi tick that is now louder because of your CAI. You would be surprised how much engine noise those stock air boxes muffle. My TJ's firewall mod got so loud I actually discovered internal issues and had her rebuilt. This guy said he cured his hemi tick a bit using seafoam. Wouldn't hurt to try this to rule it out.

As for a lift, earlier this month Camp was selling his OME HD without the shocks. Not sure if its still avaliable. You can get the shocks from Kolak.

I tried the seafoam last night in the oil. Going to give it a day or two and then oil change. Hopefully it will correct the issue. If not I will try it again. I will be cleaning the throttle body and intake tonight with the seafoam... Don't know how much it will smoke but we will see lol!

Pulled the throttle body off last night and it was DIRTY!!!!
