MAP sensor reading?

I am just curious; at idle, with 15-17 inches of vacuum, what should the MAP sensor be reading? I was messing with why I get poor fuel economy (my fathers mostly stock TJ gets about 7MPG more than me) and was checking my sensors with my scan tool. My MAP reading was 36; I have NO idea what units that is (I have my gauge set to 'metric') and I am not sure if that is 'normal' or not at operating temp at idle.

So simply put, what should my scan tool be saying in an ideal condition?

Should be kilo-pascals. User documentation for your scan tool should give you a definite answer.

I have no idea though if 36 kPa is a normal reading for idle.

Looks like you are right on the units.

Still cant find any 'normal' readings though.

Mine just measured 5.3psi or 36.5 kPa at idle fully warmed up.

I would like to assume that is normal. This is all very mysterious to me at the moment. Normal accelerating pushes it up to about 12psi. Coasting in gear pulls it down to 2 or 3psi.
