aaalright then, i have a jeep wrangler 2012 sport 4wd included with automatic tranny but also with the electronic manual shift included as well. so the issue is the jeep cranks good and we drive down the road but woe to me it does not want to shift to second just stalls out so i think ill use the manual to try that but the manual doesnt do anything at all. ive check my codes and ive gotten no error codes at all but im sure to know this must be electrical to some degree since the manual shift will not work at all please for the love of god help because my bro wants to mud ride and its not letting him past 35 but the reverse and 4 wheel drive works still not shifting gear either way please help

REBOOT!
Try a battery disconnect and wait a few seconds then reconnect...

You said "does not want to shift to second just stalls out".

What do you mean by stalls out? The engine quits?

Limp mode will set a trouble code. Did you check for codes with a good scanner? A lot of codes won't show using the self-scan, if that how you checked.

My 2012 Rubicon does this as well. Started doing it early and complaints to dealer did nothing. "Could not duplicate". No ****. It's a sporadic occurrence.

Now, almost 4 years later it's doing it about 1 time every single day.

The only way I know to get out of limp mode is to pull over, turn it off (I open my door to make sure everything shuts down), then restart.

Very frustrating issue, and can't find hardly any info on it.

not sure what the oP means exactly here.

I had an issue last year sound similar. MIne would shift if in D. the trouble was manual mode quite up shifting. so when i was off road or on and say went to manual 4th or 1st you are stuck there until you go to D. it would not up shift. from new the shifter was always very touchy left to right, no real feel like a wet noodle or a cheep joy stick. If you beat it it would up shift then even that would not do it. Dealer did repair and the replacment part has a firmer feel. Its not the trans but once again a cheep electrical part that you shift. Dust again was the issue here. intruded into it and caused it to no signal the trans. There will not be a code, just a crap shift controller that sits in the console. out of warranty this part is like 500$.

I would guess this might be the same issue. Though i never went to limp mode ever.

Finally, after almost 4 years of this crap I got a check engine light.

Solenoid A in transmission going bad. Will be a relief to finally get this fixed. (assuming I don't get screwed by the dealership for the power train warranty repair. The check engine light is now gone.....)
