I just bought 2 fog lights from walmart. just a chiep set. i wanna install them myself. is there any way i can connect them to my headlights so when my headlights come on, the fog lights will too? any info on wiring will be helpful

mike

Add a relay triggered of the the low beam headlights, the relay will then operate the fog lights when ever the low beam headlights are on. Or use a switch (or switch + relay setup) in the cab and turn them on when you need them.

I would put them on an individual switch. That way you can turn them on an off when you want, and even run them with your highbeams. Stock XJ lights are really crappy so the more light pointing forward the better.

Hook the fusebox power wire to a circuit that turns on with the headlamps such as the dashboard lights or the parking lights. You really want a switch so you can turn off the fog lamps.

If the image above doesn't work (for you)... about 5 feet from where you bought your lights at Walmart there should be a wiring harness kit for fog/driving lamps? I saw them once, they were Baja as well... and cheap.

Honestly, the diagram above is perfect...and simple to replicate.

here is another of the same found when doing a google search.

i ran my switch into the cabin through a rubber grommet that allowed the lights and other wires in on the driver side firewall. you should be able to move it around pretty easy with a flathead just make sure you re seal it when done.
