Installing an inline heater hose cutoff valve

I just did the heater hose valve deletion by installing '97 hoses, which don't allow for an inline switch into my '96 XJ, and now when I'm on the road wind blows through my now constantly hot heater core and into the cabin. How can I stop this?

First idea is to find some kind of inline valve that I can install and just manually open and close according to when I need heat.

Second idea is to block the floor vents, which is where it mostly comes out.

Does anyone even make a manual valve that's suitable to put in my heater hose?

Thanks.

When the a/c is turned on the vents blow fairly cold when the temp switch is full left, and pretty hot when fully right so I'm assuming it's working 90-95%. The hot air blowing in through the floor vents is a very slow blow but when I'm battling outside heat and not running the a/c to keep from overheating the engine, it's basically the straw that breaks the camel's back. I was sent the below pic as a solution and I think that's how I'm gonna do it.
