You should be able to remove it by doing the following:
- Loosen air intake tube at engine side.
- Undo clips on front of airbox
- Pull the air intake tube/top of airbox off and put it to the side.
- Pull air filter out.
- Pull up (it will be difficult if it has never been done) on the lower portion and it should pop out of the rubber gromets.
x2. Once you've removed the tube that runs to the intake, you just pull up on the filter housing. It's a press-fit onto its mounting, it's not screwed or bolted.
