Probably something the PO put on. There were some Grizzly wheels, however.

Only thing I've ever seen is the Grizzly tire group option you mentioned but I've never seen a Jeep Grizzly edition, decal or label.

A possibility is that it may have, or had, Grizzly products. There are grizzly tube bumpers, rails, etc for Jeeps so someone may have taken the Grizzly bumper decal and stuck it on there, it is a nice decal as those things go.

Or maybe the PO had a Yamaha Grizzly and really, really liked it

Thanks StvDiego - that's not something I was thinking of. I take possession early next week, and as soon as I get my post requirement up, I post some pics of the decals - they look professionally applied (maybe dealership option/package?) - the paint is near perfect all around, so I doubt the owner would just have stuck them on willy nilly.

I just Carfaxed it an it's an east coast truck - from Nova Scotia Canada (I'm in Ontario). Maybe it was a dealer there trying to package some aftermarket stuff.

I have heard of the "Grizzly" XJ before. It is indeed a dealer installed "package". What else besides the stickers though, is beyond me.

 

does it have a brush gurard/push bar? or had? theres a grizzly guard.

The last one shows the rough positioning. The only thing I can see that may be different are the body colored running boards, but that may not be it. I can try to take better pics later if it matters (or I'll get my wife to do it )

Good news too - I just checked and I have the 8.25 Chrysler rear axle. Woot.

Nice xj, it looks just like a regular sport, but with dealer installed graphics on it.

 

Btw - I just noticed my wheels aren't even Grizzly rims - that doesn't seem to make much sense anymore, aka the decals don't seem to make any sense.

Anyway, other than ebay or craigslist, is there a place I can buy center caps for Ecco wheels? I'm missing one.

you could try a dealer? or ajunk yard? the GRIZZLEY sticker must have been put on by the PO because for all of my knoledge jeep didnt make a package with that name for the XJ in the us. but it mave have been a canadian thing?

Again, notice his XJ is a Sport (from the factory) I have seen the grizzly edition before, and it is put on there from a certain dealership.

so i just got a grizzley the other day and i found out that its a special edition made for a football team in halifax new brunswick(im from pei) but ya just thought id answer the question

 

I have a 1997 Grizzly edition and I'm in Kamloops BC it comes with running boards and maybe other stuff, I am just looking into it now but I'm sure that it wouldn't be from a sports team out east.

 

I had a Dakota edition. It means the dealership slapped a sticker on it, that's all

 

I thought that as well but if you google and read they were across Canada and the one thing they all have in common is the molded running boards and they have Grizzly rims.

 

Grizzly editions I belive come either a danna 44 rear end, re geared axles and a better transcooler system.
