Best fix for hole in Bestop Supertop?

I finally got around to installing my Bestop Supertop this weekend. My son was down and the weather was finally nice and warm enough to put it on. It's been in the box since I purchased it almost 6 months ago.

Of course, as my son pointed out, there is a small pinhole in the top. It is on the top, about an inch toward the front from where the rear bow is sitting.

It is a small hole, but you can feel where the fabric is "thinner" there. You can see sunlight through it. Not sure if it was shipped that way, or if insect/rodent damage is to blame. I did not see any damage to the box. Doubt the warranty would cover it. Sat for 6 months before I put it on.

It is a hole, not a tear, per se.

Anyone make a patch kit, or something similar?

I saw a kit on Amazon by Gear Aid. Gets about 3 1/2 stars on reviews. Some say it works great, others say it comes right off.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Patrick

Best top use to have a patch kit or at least someone made them and I have used them on Best tops before. You had a piece of top material and then a fabric cement glue and glued from the inside of the top. Worked fine the times I used it to fix Jeeps in the past. Quadratec has a reapir kit but not sure if it is the same thing I used years back or not.

I learned how to sew fabrics when I got my A&P license* - the tent repair kit a few stitches and silicone (RTV) all done on non visible side - no need to fuss.

I received one the the top was damaged about 2" back from the windshield, called 4WDH, where I had ordered it from, emailed them pics, and they contacted Bestop, who drop shipped a new top to me.

I had the exact same problem. I bought the top for my CJ5. Kept it in the box for 6 months untouched, waiting to get my jeep back from the mechanic. I finally installed it today, and it found a hole in the top. Exactly as you described. No damage to the box, so I'm thinking it happened during manufacturing. I just contacted the ebay seller and bestop, but not sure what options I have since its been six months. I don't think its a coincidence that both of us bought tops six months ago and had the exact same kind of damage.
