The shift pattern (P R N D and - +) doesn't illuminate on the center shifting column either with the lights off or on. The dash does show the digital readout to say what gear you're in. Are the ones on the shift column supposed to illuminate? Seems odd to me that they don't.

2013 JKU Sahara, automatic.

No need for indicator in the console - its in the dash display. They don't light up for this reason.

So somewhere between '08 and '13 things changed. Might be time to pop it all open and see if the harness is there and just needs to be tapped in to. Thanks.

Wonder which year they decided the extra 5.00 per vehicle was no longer necessary...

My 09 does not light up on the shifter.

I did have a similar question. If anyone has auto windows, do the top two switches light up? It looks like there is a tiny space in there for a little light, but they aren't lit up. Everything on the das is pretty easy to see at night except the window switches.

My power window switches have tiny pinhole lighting in the switch. I wish the door handles did! (time to figure out a mod for that)

I seem to remember some thread somewhere about trying to change the little LED in the power window switch. Can't remember if it was possible or if the whole switch had to be replaced.

I'd bet there is an LED inside the shifter console for those whose shifter doesn't light up. Loose connection or bad led.

Dang so my lights are out in my window switches. I have a wild hair in my bu++ right now, so I will tear the dash & console apart to see what I can find

Now that i think about it, I do remember someone posting about an empty connector under the shifter condole not too long ago. I think it was a guy with a manual, and the best guess at what it was for was the overdrive button... I think we might know what it is now!!

I've had my '13 since April and I JUST noticed the darkness of the shifter last week. I mentioned it to my wife thinking a wire was lose or something! I do remember my '08 having the shifter letter lit. Wow. I can't believe they been dark all this time and I just suddenly noticed that!

I didnt get around to pulling apart the console this weekend to see what was under there, but my shifter column was lit up on the console this morning... I must have been imagining things this weekend when I said it didnt light up.

I will pull it apart the next time I get a chance and post pics of the connector for the lighting.

'14 auto JKU - and my shifter lights up as with the same color aqua accent lighting of everything else on the interior - including window controls and inside the cup holders in the console. The cup holder lighting kinda surprised me. Doesn't really seem jeep-esque.

2012 JKU, auto and the shifter isnt lighting up. Sylvania fitment guide says there is a 658 bulb in there. My Jeep is under warranty so will mention it next time I have it in. Any idea how to gain access to this bulb though?
