I run the Walker Quiet Flow Stainless Steel muffler. It's just like stock. My tires make more noise.

 

Good to know. How is it holding up on the exterior? Any rust??

 

Just color staining from mud so far. I don't run this Jeep in the salt during winter and I haven't seen any rust on it yet.

 

This might not help much, but I just put a walker on my sons Grand Cherokee with the 4.7.

Very slight increase in sound, but is does sound very good. Looks like a quality, inexpensive alternate to a stock muffler. Only been on a couple months, so no idea how long it will last.

Hmmm you wouldn't happen to know which Walker muffler you put on your son's Jeep, would you? They make a Walker Quiet-Flow and a Walker SoundFX...

 

One plus to the Walker is a lifetime warranty. The local Napa here offers lifetime on all the Walker mufflers they sell.

 

I put a walker on my YJ 2.5 with no cat, it is buzzy, neonish, coffee can sounding... needs replaced. Just my experience, different application but close enough for the thread title.

 

I replaced mine with a Jones turbo (jones is made by walker) ever so slightly deeper tone than stock and did not notice any increase in sound. And it was less than $30. Not stainless but was galvanized.

Jones, Thrush, Walker and Dynonax are all made by the same company. Who would of thought...

 

Rock auto has a muffler/ tailpipe package for cheap. I'm going that route once I get around to it. I have a thrush turbo muffler and hate it. I want the oem sound again

 

I've been reading replies that the Thrush Turbo was pretty quiet, almost like OEM. Let me know what the Rock Auto sounds like.

 

Hmmm you wouldn't happen to know which Walker muffler you put on your son's Jeep, would you? They make a Walker Quiet-Flow and a Walker SoundFX...

They installed the 18568 Sound FX muffler

 

I replaced the stock muffler 3 years ago with a cheap universal muffler that had a lifetime warranty. I hardly heard the OEM, the aftermarket one has a "free-flow" kind of sound. After 3 years now the aftermarket got louder so they replaced it for free under warranty. Still not as quiet as stock.

It would be nice if something like the Walker was actually as quiet as stock for less then $100.

 

I installed a Walker Quiet-flow from Napa on my 97 TJ about 6 months ago. Very very slightly louder than stock ... in fact I replaced the entire system and everything fit exactly like OEM.

 

I got a Walker on clearance from rockauto.com for my old 92 Volvo 740 wagon for $17 new. Got rid of the Volvo, still had the muffler, so put it on our 97 XJ. Fit perfect with an addition of about 8" of pipe. Sounded perfect, thumpy without drone. My wife loved it.

 

I recently installed a Dynomax Super Turbo. Super quiet, barely louder than stock, with no droning or harshness. Does have a slightly deeper tone at idle which sounds very good. Worth the $40 at Summit that I paid for it.

 

I ran the Walker Quiet Flow and it was slightly louder than stock. It had a nice deep tone. I like quiet and would have preferred it quieter, but it wasn't bad at all.

 

Walker SoundFX mufflers are total garbage.
Too loud, sound cheap and the baffles break their welds easily.
