I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a junkyard steering wheel with the controls and just swapping em out? I have seen on ebay people selling just the outer shell that houses the controls, would I be able to just swap out the one on my jeep with that one?

I have an 01 4l and it has no steering wheel radio controls. I am in the process of overhauling the sound system as I am taking it over from my wife and she is getting something newer.

ANy help or insight would be greatly appreciated,:tea:

If you don't get anything back on this, you may want to try hitting up theksmith on here. He's pretty knowledgeable with this type of stuff.

I did the junkyard backing cover method, bought a used harness off of someone parting out their WJ, and it worked great. I believe they only work with oe stereos though. The harness just plugged right into the clock spring. I have an '04 Laredo 4.7L.

You can buy a kit to convert the steering wheel controls to work with aftermarket head units. I have an Axxess A-SWC or something like that and it works great with my Alpine HU.
