Just creating this thread so that it shows up in any search a person might do on u-joints and hopefully saves them some time and frustration ( ujoint, universal joint, etc. ).

For 4.0L with Selec-Trac (and possibly others....) :

The AutoZone parts system shows a part number of 2-4800DG for the rear driveshaft u-joint. This part number is a 1350 series joint. The 1350 series u-joint measures approximately 3 5/8" across end caps.

Their system shows a part number of 1-0153DG for the front u-joint. This part number is a 1310 series joint. The 1310 series u-joint measures approximately 3 1/4" across end caps.

The 2-4800DG joint is INCORRECT for all stock applications on WJ models for either front OR rear driveshafts.

The 1-0153DG is CORRECT for all stock applications that utilize 1310 series u-joints in either single cardan or double cardan configurations either front OR rear.

If you choose to go with the DuraLast u-joints from AutoZone and you have stock shafts or at least shafts that utilize 1310 series joints, just ask for the 1-0153DG in the quantity that you need and don't let them try to tell you otherwise.

no WJ had a 5.9.
I didn't think so either, but the FSM specifically states this so I threw it in there....Might have been a FSM copy-and-paste from a previous/concurrent model (I'm guessing the ZJ? )?

I think ALL u-joints in a WJ are the same front and rear.
Hence the thread. ;) AutoZone's system has mucked up more than a few customers with this error so if I can save someone the hassle, great....

napa, get the good stuff.

I worked for autozone, trust me you dont want duracrap
It's hit or miss. I prefer Spicers but have had to use the DuraLast at times. There's plenty of reviews for and against just like with any product. It's all about the application, the usage and how good the individual unit purchased was manufactured.

I would stick with the spicers, unless you just like replacing u-joints. They are a bit higher, but they will outlast the duralast golds a few times over.
