I just want to confirm that the radiator fan relay for my 1996 jeep cherokee is behind the passenger marker light. Is this correct?

Thanks!!

Now I'm jsut confused.. I have a 96 jeep cherokee that I bought 2 weeks ago. p1491 came up yesterday so I bought a coolant fan relay hoping it would be a quick fix. The relay box under the hood has a radiator fan relay location.. however, no wires run to it and no relay is in it. When I bought the coolant fan relay from autozone it wasn't what I expected. It looks like a bolt on piece, not something that goes into a relay junction box. I've read that sometimes the relay is under the passenger marker light, however I can't see the relay after I remove the light.

So now I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The only relay for the cooling fan on my '96 is in the PDC. If you know of another one it would help me immensely. I've been chasing a cooling fan problem for six months now. The one that shows up on Autozone's website is not the one for the PDC.

There is also a 20A fuse in the PDC for the fan. If that's good, pull the plug on the coolant temp sensor at the thermostat housing. If your fan kicks on, that's bad.

Not sure if this helps but here is my ongoing attempt to fix my fan:

Alot of people get the XJ Cherokee and the ZJ GRAND Cherokee mixed up....the ZJ GRAND has the fan relay behind the bumper cover....not the XJ Cherokee
