Can anyone help me figure out how to clean a DPF on my 07 CRD?

There’s a few videos on YouTube demonstrating how to clean the DPF on the CRD by injecting cleaning fluid while the DPF stays in place, can’t say I’ve done it myself, but doesn’t look that difficult. i recall seeing a video where the guy removed it and back flushed it at the car wash. Personally, I’d probably try that method first.

For reference the Dodge Sprinter of the same year has a DPF and CRD too in case you didn’t know. There are some minor differences in the CRD used in the Sprinter versus the WK, but the DPF is the same from what I’ve read.

Some folks may encourage you to buy a “tune” and have the DPF disabled, but I will let them explain that option because I have no experience with disabling the DPF.

If it is really clogged, you'll need to take it off the vehicle, seal one end, and fill it with a DPF cleaning concentrate or solvent and let it soak for several days. Acetone works well and is both readily available and inexpensive. Make sure to air dry before reinstalling, another advantage of using acetone as it will evaporate quickly.

Good luck

Do you know of anyone who has a tool that will perform a forced regeneration?
AlfaOBD is what I use. After fixing all the problems with my motor and getting the check engine light to go out I was able to force a regen and successfully complete. I think everything needs to be in good order before the computer will execute a regen.
There’s a Brit on YouTube with a BMW maintenance channel that tested various chemicals and settled on a precleaning with lye, followed by muratic acid wash to dissolve the ash.
But that’s for ash buildup. If yours is plugged with soot, I think burning it out with a regen might be best.

I wonder what caused your DPF to clog so bad, that is strange.
anyway, I believe the JScan software can force a regeneration, i can check later because I need to use JScan to adjust tire size in the PCM to calibrate my speedo meter.

so, Jscan calibrated my speedo just fine after changing the tire size to 27.75”, but i’m not seeing the option to force a regen or to calibrate a new diesel fuel injector. i will reach out to the developer on facebook to find out why those features do not show up.
[Update: the jscan developer responded to my question and has requested i send him som powertrain info so he can confirm why I am not seeing the option to regen]
