2025 Final Generation of WL. Wait until 2026 Comes out?

Hi - I've owned 4 Jeeps (1 Grand Cherokee, and three Wranglers). I'm looking to buy a new Grand Cherokee L, however when researching, sound like the 2026 model due later this year will have new exterior/interior (See below on my internet research).

The 3.6 not available and now forcing all to 2.0 doesn't sound good to me. Is it worth the wait? Only thing that say "yes" to me would be the improved safety features, but not thrilled about a 2.0 engine.

I too have been waiting for the 2026 with the slim hope they will offer the new 3.0 Hurricane I6 and not just a 2.0 I4. Most sources have said that’s not going to happen, so I am seriously considering buying the last year Hemi Durango before it’s too late. I’ve been a devoted Grand Cherokee owner owning 4 V8 ones. To be honest, all the other issues with this vehicle are scaring me away. They’ve been out since 2021. The Durango platform is based on the same tried and true Mercedes platform that the WK2 was.

Interesting take on the 3.6. Anemic?

I've had two 5.7 Hemis, five 3.6 P-stars, and two EcoDiesels. I've also had a couple of the old 4.0s and the 3.8 "minivan engine". Out of them all I would have such a hard time choosing between the 5.7 and 3.6 that I would honestly not even consider that in my choice of Jeep unless I was ordering brand new. The 3.6 is strong, runs to 60 MPH very quickly in my WK2 on mud tires. Gets 19 MPG winter/20 MPG summer. Super reliable also with 200,950 on the clock as of today. I love the 3.6.

Now, having said that, I drove a Wrangler JL with the 2.0 and it was impressive. Every bit as strong as the 3.6 and hand calculated MPG was about 1.5 better. Just don't own one of those out of warranty!

I just placed an order for a 2025 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 2-row with the Pentastar V-6 with Koons. It's a fine engine and not that much off the Hemi's pace. The Hemi also requires higher octane. In any event, I'd been waiting to hopefully get a Hurricane engine in a GC, but it seems like it will not happen, at least not anytime soon. Looking forward to taking delivery in a few weeks. Our 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit V-6 has been a great car and fairly trouble-free in 100,000 miles. She'll be missed.

We love our 3.6 GC L and are considering buying another before it's released with the 2.0 - I wish this car had a diesel, but no complaints on the 3.6 getting us where we need to go. We still have two WK's on the road with 150K plus each, but will likely get another GCL Summit before 2026. Lots of deals to be had on them now too.

I just bought a 2025 WL Limited from Koons! So far (three days) I like it a lot. I am used to the 3.6 Liter engine and am perfectly fine with its capabilities; it is a proven reliable engine. I did not want to wait for the 2.0 Liter turbo that will be in the 2026 (Jeep may also offer a V8 in those models; I hope they do for people that want that, but we'll have to wait and see). Generally, small engines with turbos make peak horsepower that is respectable and can move the vehicle but they really work hard to do it. By working hard I mean they have higher compression ratios, turbos that spin up to high revs, etc. You can find a lot of commentary on YT and the web in general about how long small engines with turbos last, and I don't have confidence in their ability to go the distance.

That's really nice looking. I had a good experience at Koons (Tysons). Most of all, though, I got the vehicle that I wanted.

It took me a long time to warm up to the WL, but I'm there now. I've owned a slew of Grand Cherokees over the years, and had good luck with all of them. My secret forumula is change the oil every 5000 miles and don't beat on them. High hopes for this one (dealer picture):

I'm new to the forum and to Jeep. Just bought a new 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve L with the 5.7 Hemi yesterday. I had to do some searching to find it. I test drove a couple 2025's last week and was underwhelmed with the V6 acceleration. I noticed a significant increase in acceleration with the 5.7. I know the Pentastar is a reliable engine but I've owned several Ram 1500's with the Hemi and they've all been great engines. It was worth the six hour round trip for me.

Thank you, happy to be here. I definitely got the one I wanted. Got a great discount on it too since it's a 2024 model. I'm not alone in the opinion that they never should have dumped the Hemi in nearly all their vehicles. Looks like they're paying for it now. I hope they turn that around quickly.
