Alright here's my situation. So, I bought a fuel pump for my liberty and installed it and it ended up not working. Checked fuses, relays, etc as well as the electrical connectors (both off the wire harness and where the fuel pump connects to the strainer) and they have hot ground and both leads for fuel pump and the fuel level.
So I got yet another and hooked it up to the strainer and then the harness, had a friend turn the key to ON and it kicked on and the fuel gauge worked. Well, after putting it in and hooking everything up, it will not turn on now nor will it send a signal to the fuel gauge. I cannot for the life of me figure this out and if anyone lives in the Wilmington,Nc area and can help me get this figured I can pay you I have been messing with this for a week and my birthday is on Monday and I'd really like to not have to work on it on my birthday weekend.

Try removing the Fuel Pump Relay from the fuse/relay box under the hood.
Then swap it over with an identical one next to it.
Then with the relay removed...jumper female pins 30 and 87 together inside the relay socket...with ignition on etc. the pump should run and the engine should fire...unless there is a fuse blown or the ground for your pump has gone missing or your fuel filter and fuel line are blocked!

I suggest you go on YouTube and watch a video on south main auto where Eric o diagnoses and fixes a Jeep Liberty with a bad fuel pump. He gives lots of tips to check wires with a test light. I think the episode is, "Jeep Liberty - crank no start". He has done at least three liberty videos, well worth your time. He helped me a lot.
