was looking for a floor jack at auto zone (i know their not the best but not going to use it to hold the jeep up for more then min) for my WJ but noticed most only go a bit over 13 or 14 inches.

i thought the jeep lift point was about that height so i went home and measured the space form the ground to the frame lift point and was about 13 inches.

anyone have any recommendation on what the max high i should look for in a floor jack and jack stand?

i am adding a 2" BB lift with shocks so should i add 2 inches to the max height of a floor jack as well?

will i still be able to use my stock bottle jack with a 2" lift?

looking for a floor jack that i can use now and them. like when i want to rotate tiers or just lift the jeep quick.

Thanks for your time

im pretty sure you can. i used my stock bottle jack on my zj to change a tire on the front and thats lifted 6.5 inches on 33s

even if it is too short why not add a block of wood or so to the floor jack. my floor jack is a tad to short now for my 4" lift so thats what i do.

Including some good jack stands is a good thought as well. Make it safe.

X2 Do it, Do it now...

sears has a 3ton(I think) with jack stands and creeper for 99 bucks if its still on sale. The jack goes up to 19 inches. works fine for my stock WJ. You can get the jack by itself for 60 bucks.

I picked up a Husky 3 ton floor jack at Home Depot. It has a lift height of 22" but it uses a steel attachment at the top to get a higher lift height. Hard to describe but I've had no problems with it.
thank you very much :2thumbsup:

its not allot and gets a decent high 6 to 22 inches. can use it on my dads car when needed

this is the one right Husky 3 Ton SUV Jack - T82503H at The Home Depot

Just picked up a pretty good, low profile shop jack.
$149 at Northern Tools. It fits under my vette, and will lift my ZJ on 33's. Lifts up to 21 inches and can go more if needed with a block.
It is 3.5 tons capacity, so it will accomodate any vehicle at home.

are you guys lifting under the frame or the axle? I always lift my jeep up on the front or rear axle (on the rear on the sides because its a dana44A).

I'm only lifted 2" but I find it a lot easier to lift under the axle..as if you lift it under the frame you have to let the suspension articulate out as far as it can before the tire actually leaves the ground.

when i took a quick look under the were its recommend to lift the axial it was around 12 or 13 inches i think. also i think its good to be able to lift by the frame if needed

with the 2" BB can you still use the stock WJ jack?.

I have that craftsman 3 ton floor jack and this central hydraulics floor jack - http://www.harborfreight.com/2-ton-low-profile-floor-service-jack-67022.html. I pretty much never use the craftsman jack, the central hydraulics jack is awesome. The central hydraulics jack sits way down low at 2-7/8" to get under the lowest cars and lifts up to 20-1/16". Sure it's only a 2 ton and my Jeep ways a few hundred pounds over that, but I've never had a problem with it, it lifts the Jeep easier than the Craftsman jack. I've had the central hydraulics jack for almost a year with no problems and I use it a good bit. I find that the Craftsman jack is hard to release and I usually end up dropping the vehicle abruptly with it because it takes more strength to turn the handle and once it budges you end up turning it too much and the vehicle drops too fast, especially when you're trying to slowly lower it onto jackstands. This jack sits lower than the Craftsman jack and lifts higher and is easier to use, and its cheaper. Its only $60 plus if you find a 20% off coupon in their ad it would be like $50. I usually stick the jack under the crossmember where it bolts to the frame to get the Jeep an extra 2" higher. Stick a block of wood on the jack and jack it on the same spot and you can get the Jeep pretty damn high off the ground. I've even jacked it up in about the center of the cross member getting 3 tires off the ground a few times and the jack didn't struggle too much. A lot of people talk down on Harbor Freight Tools, but seriously I've bought many from there and have not broke one. The only tools I would stay away from are their electrical or gas power tools, mainly the Chicago Electric brand. My cousin works at a Just Ducky Tours garage as a mechanic on the boats that drive on land and in water, you know, the military vehicles built in the 1940s that weigh over 7 tons lol, and all their floor jacks and stands are from Harbor Freight.

i will find out in a few weeks when i put it on anyway.

dont like the WJ as much as the ZJ?

This. Half the stuff from Harbor Freight is crap, but a lot of it is actually pretty good.

Their jacks fall under the "good" category. MUCH better than Craftsman jacks.
