Okay, what type of socket do I need to pull the starter bolts off of an '01 TJ with the 4 banger? I have to replace my oil pan gasket, and the starter has to come off the get to one of the back bolts.

They don't make 10 point sockets! There's 6 and 12 point. I can't remember the socket size but it's somewhere between 1/2" and 5/8" I'm pretty sure. If you have a small socket set you should be ok.Here I got what you need after all!http://jeephorizons.com/tech/tj_starter.html
It's a e-12 six point like a torx. The jeep horizon site will show you how to fix it after it's messed up by using something close. See site quote below...
"The hardest thing was getting the darn bolts out. The heads of the bolts were a star Torx type head. This made it very difficult to remove the starter. I ended up using a Damaged Nut and Bolt extractor set."
