Noticed it today when I had the Jeep up on the hoist. It looks like it's seeping pretty bad so I'm gonna replace it (gotta re-do the RTV on the case halves as well) but where would I be able to get a new seal?

Mine was from napa, I couldnt find the box for it or I'd give you the p/n. I'd call whoever you ordered it from and ask them if noone else chimes in.

I bought mine from "that company we aren't allowed to mention" so I went on their website to see. They sell the rear seal for $5.99 so I'm gonna order it from them. If anyone knows the NAPA part number though that would be great for future reference.

Just another question. When I go to separate the case halves to re-do the sealant, can I re-use the two snap rings that secure the blue speedometer gear to the output shaft or should I replace them too?

Since your going to have the case apart anyway you might want to consider getting a rebuild kit and replace all the seals and bearings. At minimum I would replace the front output seal and the bearings for both output shafts while you have the case open.

If you decide to rebuild it and have any questions PM me. I can give you torque specs and I can E-mail you pics of the rebuild (the file sizes are too large for this forum).

Good luck

I actually rebuilt it about 25000km or so ago when I put my SYE in. Turns out the sealant on the case halves is good, I just have the usual "P.O.R.C. real seal leak" that's running down the rear of the housing and dripping off where the case halves meet. *rant on* I called NAPA this morning and they want $18 CDN for the seal.....stupid Canadian price gouging......*rant off*
