Hello everyone, I have a 97 TJ with 4.0. My front PCV valve was getting a significant amount of seepage so I am replacing it. It seems to be stuck in there pretty hard. Is there some technique to get it out? Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Whilst on the subject, is one of these a pcv and the other just and straight through elbow?
One is a wide opening and the other is a narrow opening, that suggests to me that one of them is a valve and the other might be a pass through. That’s the best I know. Maybe somebody else could add more clarification.

On my Jeep the front one is just an elbow that allows clean air from the engine side of the air filter to be drawn into the rocker cover. The rear on is the valve, with the hose that goes into the intake manifold. Under engine vacuum the clean air is pulled into the rocker cover at the front as the oily fumes are are pulled out via the valve at the back and into the intake then burnt in the engine.

Hope that helps :)

^^^^ the above is correct except there is no valve in the rear elbow as in a PCV, but just a fixed office of a calibrated size as detailed in the FSM below.

and yes, my front elbow was seeping oil as well. I bought some spares but haven't used them yet as applying some RTV seems to have stopped the seepage, and that was over two years ago.
