I plan on doing this today. I will try to take some pictures to show how to do it. My symptoms are a rough idle. Not all the time but sometimes. It say that this can also effect mpg. Right now my mpg on hwy is only 13.4. I baby this bastard too. I am also thinking about doing my 2 upstream o2 sensors also.

The part to be changed.

Disconnect the battery

Disconnect the intake hose

Take off the stupid brick in the middle. Need a t25 and a straight screwdriver.

Dont forget to disconnect the plug for the sensor.

Place on TB

It is held in by one t20 screw that is under it. pull that and then give it a tug. It has 2 orings so it is in there pretty good. Then put everything back together.

Before and after

Ill update if it helps with anything.

20 Minute job?
Easy. Even with dropping the T20 bit into the fuel rail/spark plug area.

Did you get that part from the dealer? How much did it run you if you dont mind me asking? I gotta do this asap, my gas mileage is garbage
I got it from advanced auto parts. It was 70 and some change. Rock auto has it for I believe 85. So far with some town and a little highway(one mile) its up to 14.1 mpg. Hopefully with highway it will get a lot better.

I know this is an old post, hopefully I'll get a reply though :p I've been reading around and everything points to the 3.7L V6 engine not having an IAC. I've confirmed this on my own 2007 grand cherokee as the throttle body doesn't look like your one pictured above and doesn't have the IAC like yours. I just find it odd though since yours is a 3.7L. Hope someone can clear this up! Thanks.

There's 2 different throttle bodies. The 2007 and earlier has a throttle cable. 2008 and newer are drive by wire.

Hey JRLT, I am still a bit confused. The links you sent me point to the 2008+ models have the Drive By Wire TB (no IAC insert hole), and the 2003-2007 TB is the one with the IAC valve location visible. Check the links.

So my WK being a 3.7L 2007, isn't it supposed to have the metalic TB with the IAC (according to thefastman website)?? Except when I checked my vehicle, it has something similar to the Drive By Wire TB in the first link, looks the same, and no IAC.

Would love a clear up on this issue :2thumbsup: Still trying to figure out if my WK has an IAC.

Who knows. Somewhere in 2007 Jeep switched. There are others on here that have a DBW TC in a 2007, so it was a transitional year for Jeep. I'm sure the 2008 and newer head lights & bumper didn't come out exactly on January 1st 2008 either.

NO IAC but throwing IAC code. Help?

Working on a 2007 3.7 V6 Grand Cherokee that has new fly by wire system rather than Idle Air Control valve, but it is still throwing Idle Air Control Valve codes. Should i just go ahead and clean the throttle body and hope the code stops showing or should i replace the throttle body all together?

I am having this same issue where my engine almost stalls when idling. My 07. Does not have an iac
I still haven't received a response from anyone. Has anyone figured what is causing this rough idle? No aic and even my Haines repair manual seems to be unaware of the change. Sparkplugs are good, I cleaned the trottlebody, new air filter.. ?

Hello again!

Tried cleaning the old fly by wire throttle body really well and drove for several hundred miles. The IAC code never stopped throwing so we installed a new throttle body from morris4x4. Cleaned everything really well again and drove several hundred miles. Crossing our fingers. The engine light has gone away for now. Seemed to fix the problem. Was starting to wonder if the sensor was faulty.

All,

In later model 2007 Grand and Commanders Jeep did use the 2008 TB this still has an IAC it is just not serviceable(not sure on the actual build date it started) in order to fix IAC codes you need to replace the whole TB which is a Dealer only item. How ever i have found them on Rock Auto remaned and new. but you need to search under the 2008 model year for the TB. During warmer weather you will notice very little issue as the IAC is for cold start idle only come colder weather say 50F and below you will notice the rough idle and MPG drop. I have had this issue on my 2007 commander for couple years now and refused to pay the $380 for the new TB. But they have since came down in price and run about $180 the last time I Checked.

Very easy to do on a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The IAC valve is located on the lower driver's front of the throttle body. You need a Torx T20 screwdriver or socket to remove the one bolt. There is a vacuum line pipe in the way but it is easy to unhook and move out of the way. Takes about 5 minutes. I made a quick n dirty video showing how.

Yes I have the 3.7 and I've cleaned my throttle body and what you're saying is true There is another sensor right behind the cooling temperature sensor I believe that might be what we need to change?

Looking for an answer on what sensor is directly behind the cooling temperature sensor on the 3.7?
