Looking to purchase some tires soon. I have 15x10 Classic II's on my ride now and probably want the 31x12.5 tires. Is Pro-Comp a decent brand? Or should i look somewhere else. Who do you guys deal with online? Let me know.

I like the BFG AT KO.... I have them in 35"s. I would never buy another set of ATs for my jeep but they are the best IMO. Here is a pic of them in 35" you can see the tread pattern on them. My roomate had his for 65k on his Yota. They were litterally patched about five times each

Hey, I gotta ask since the duck has it too: What's with the eye patch?

If your gonna go with an AT tire over a MT Id suggest you take a look at the Bridgestone dueler AT REVO, make sure the Revo not the base AT.

I had run TA's for a while, and when the Revo came out after talking to a lot of folks I gave it a try and all I can say is WOW.

I had better mud traction and over all traction than I ever had with the TA, ride was quiter by a mile.

It was a hard sell, I was a TA fan for a while, but IF I ever need a AT tire again it will be the REVO for sure.

Here they are on my old SLX/Trooper

if your dead set on a 31-12.50, thats going to narrow your selection of tire brands. not alot of tire companies make that size. after a quick leaf through a couple 4x4 magazines the only 2 brands i could find were pro-comp & superswamper. between the 2 id choose pro-comp especially if your plan on driving onroad as well. i havent heard anything bad about the pro-comp tires and have seen more than a few jeeps equipped with them.

For a 31x12.50 your lookin at the following:
31x12.50 Bogger, SSR, Thornturd, any of the 3 ProComps (thin sidewall's) and thats about it. If I had to choose any of them, I would go with the SSR personally. Cheers.

Has anybody had the AT's and the MT's? I would like to know how much better the MT's are off-road. I am too looking at getting a set of 31's and am torn between the two kinds.
I used to have BFG ATs, and they were fine both on and off road. But when I switched to BFG MTs, I realized just how much the ATs totally sucked off road! LOL! Seriously, the MT is a far superior off road tire...I really didn't think there'd be that much of a difference between them, but I was completely wrong; I'll never go back to an AT.

Oh, and contrary to popular belief, the MTs don't really perform much worse than the ATs on the street. In fact, in dry conditions there's no difference at all. In wet conditions however, the ATs do stop a lot better--the MTs seem to hyrdoplane much more. Because of that, I'm probably going to switch to Interco Trxus MTs with my next tire purchase. They're just as agressive as the BFG MTs, so they should perform similarly off road, but they're siped like crazy, so they should perform much better on road in wet conditions. Heck, from what I hear (I have a friend who just bought a set), they'll perform better than the BFG MT on rocks, too. Still not as good as a GY MT/R, but better than the BGF MT.

ask for a size chart for the tires you want-if you ask for a 31x12.50 you will limit what is available-but if you look at the metric conversion size you will see that quite a few of them offer a size like a 325/60r which would be equivelant to that size-i am currently running super swamper ssr radials and love them-dont know about the mileage yet as far as how long they will last but on road manners in wet/dry conditions is good-road noise is there but not as loud as other mud tires i have run in the past-and of course off road performance is excellent as the swamper name has proven to be over the years.

Funny how there are different opinions on how well an AT compares offroad from an MT. Of the three different "blind tests" I've seen comparing how well they compare, like how far they get up a steep incline, all the tests I've seen all agree there's little difference in overall performance in most offroading needs... that ATs were always better than many are able to give credit for. Where ATs never measure up is in deep snow or mud... but for other forms, including all but extreme levels of rock crawling, BFG's AT does extremely well. If BFG's AT looked cooler than BFG's MT did, I would bet those that don't feel it's a good offroad tire would have no trouble choosing the ALL Terrain over the MUD Terrain because, well heck, it does ALL terrain and not just MUD Terrain. ;) By the way, in some forms of smooth-slick rock crawling, BFG's AT is preferred over the MT simply because it puts more rubber on the slick rock face.
