Trouble with code p1757

Hello and thank you to this forum for the first time. I've been browsing as a free user for a while and just decided to man up and join for 6 months to see how it goes.
Anyways, I recently had a garage install a junkyard motor/tranny combo into my 2000 WJ. The pair came from one vehicle that was smashed by a tree.
The motor and tranny both run so smooth so well. After a while, I'll get a P1757 code involving my solenoid and sensor in my 42RE. I was thinking my PCM was old with over 207K on it, so I replaced it three days ago. Jeep ran better than ever before. Smooth starts and idles, smooth shifts, lots of power. If I go out and reset the PCM, it will run like that for days, and then run not so well after the P1757 code sets again. What's the fix for that code? Is it really the solenoid and sensor? Or should I just get a new TCM for a fix? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the advice, oldRodney. I was trail riding a little yesterday and today. Tonight, on my way home from the local grocery store, my check engine light for that code P1757 went out. HHhhhhhmmmmmm, now that's weird? Or is it? I can start up my Jeep right now and the check engine light is out. Though I had to fix that first? LOL...I dunnooo

My 2 cents on P1757 and the TPS question you asked...

Mattyjm,

Regarding the TPS... Especially when it's cold out and your jeep is cold you should expect high(er) Revs at start up. I doubt that the P1757 fault
code is in any way indicative of a bad TPS however as old Rodney mentioned it could be the cause of your high Revs at start up. If you decide to replace the TPS
a good microfina polishing of the ID of the TB is a nice move as well if you have time for complete disassembly... I polished mine and used all new Airtex Wells Sensors and get about 22 mpg on the highway wherein I was getting 19 to 20 b4 the sensor replacements & polish job.

Ok back to P1757... Since you recently had a junkyard Motor/Tranny installed it may not be as complicated as a bad GPS sensor or solenoid. I would start just with dropping the Trans Pan, replacing the fluid & screen and see what happens if your trans fluid is dirty or burnt now. Don't flush the Tranny though until you know the fluid and screen have been changed a couple of times and is relatively clean or you might/will cause an s-load of trouble in your tranny that has no record of maintenance . I can't link you to my scan code software but below is a link that adequately explains P1757 and the possible causes for it to be detected/read.

- Transmission oil burnt or oil pan has excessive debris
- internal transmission damage
- Faulty Governor Pressure Sensor
- Faulty Governor Pressure Solenoid
- Faulty Valve Body
- Engine Control Module (ECM) 5 volt supply
- 5 volt supply circuit open
- 5 volt supply circuit open inside the transmission
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Maybe in this case only...

If it ain't broke... Don't fix it. :)
