Well I guess I need to start a thread to track this little money pit.

I am no rock crawler, But I do love to travel off of the beaten path. I need dependability more than I need outrageous crawling ability. I have had both jeeps and toyota's. I am coming from a V8 4runner and know I will miss that motor. But alas I miss the rugged simplicity of my last TJ rubicon but need more room so I opted for an LJ.

Picked up this beauty on Craigslist with 47k original miles. It is a non rubicon 06 6spd with a IronRock offroad ultimate tj 4" lift with fully adjustable upper and lower CA's. It already had 35" BFG mudterrains so it has a good start but I am going to have to dith the half cab since I have a son that will need to ride in the back sometimes.

first things first. Chrome grill has to go. I am lucky it was just an overlay and I dont have to sand and paint the whole grill. and I took the hilift off of the bumper as well.

also added the PSC hood Louver as well.

one tip when doing this install. Paint under your hood hinges while you have the hood off and you are touching up the cuts anyways, It is pretty nasty under there.

Well the next Item on the agenda was to ditch the half cab, I have always wanted a Jeep Brute but I am of the mindset it is Brute or Bust. So away with the half cab. I looked at the Gr8tops safari cab pretty seriously and do LOVE it but the near 5K price tag along with needing to drive halfway across the country for the install (They do not ship them at this time) had me looking elswhere

Enter WIldboar Products TJU fastback top.
I cannot say enough good things about this product. The price is extremely competative and the product is better than the factory in my eyes (Has insulation and carpeting)
If your even considering one of these Give Paul a call!

Thanks, Last evening I spent installing the lightbar. No it is not a Rigid. I figured I can go through 10 of these before one rigid. and since I am on a budget I will spend that extra money elsewhere. I did order the rigid 50" lighbar harness instead of making my own with the relay. It is a great harness for the $25 it costs. I would definitely recommend it. I put the swith in the ashtray location on the older model. I am not sure what goes here on the newer Jeeps but appearently mine did not have it.

The bar I got was extremely cheap so I will hold reservation on the choice I made until this has had some hours put into it. I used the rugged ridge brackets that came powder coated for a Benjamin ($). All in all, I think it Came out great.

also while I was at it I added a new DieHard Platinum with the mill style battery clamps. while I was at it.

My battery hold down bar is missing too! Anyone know where I can buy a factory or aftermarket one?

Here is the highline on my property with the normal headlights on Bright.

and here it is with the light bar on.

Looks great! Interested to see how the new hardtop handles the rain. From what I read, quite a few people have had issues with it leaking. Granted this was awhile ago when I read up on them. Would like to get one myself if this issues has been taken care of.
