I replaced my front u-joints tonight and I noticed a very faint squeel that speeds up with wheel speed. I don't know if its just one of the plastic "tube seals" rubbing or if I might have slipped a needle bearing under the cap. Would I be right in thinking that if it were a needle bearing under the cap I wouldn't have been able to get the c-clips on or I would have noticed something more severe than a very slight squeel? Help me out guys...

You are right that you wouldnt be able to get the clip in if you dropped a needle bearing. did you grease the splined end of the axle shaft along with some grease where the oil seal runs?

I had a similar problem with mine after I finsihed, a small bang and what sounded like a thrown rock fixed it :p

I drove her to work this morning, drove along a concrete well to bounce any noise back. Whatever noise I was hearing seems to have gone away. I still have angry sparrows intermittantly but I haven't tackled the front drive shaft yet.
