any folks using Roto-Tech rotors? JC Whitney has them for 50 bucks each. they seem alright based what i found on the internet, but i was looking for some opinions from here. they also state that aggresive pads can be used on them and they wont destroy the rotor (like hard pads on a stock rotor would).
Any feedback on these rotors would be much appreciated. i would like to use them with the stock calipers (since there are any i could find other then stock type) and good pads, since ever since the lift, my brakes aren't ever near where they used to be. plus i gotta change the pads anyway so i figure why not.

thanks

Careful with cross-drilled rotors, some have a tendancy to crack at the holes!

Id be more inclined to go for a slotted only type rotor and some higher performance pads.
SPOBI!!!

maybe walmart rotors will crack, a good set will not crack because its crossdrilled

SPOBI????

hey........I just call it like I see it. Ive seen numerous cross drilled rotors form cracks at the holes, and really theres no real need for cross drilled rotors on a street vehicle, thats why I suggested the slotted only, does the same job, but without the possibility of any cracking.

If the OP is running larger tires/wheels then he prolly needs brake parts that are of a higher performance standard than what stock parts are able to put out.

I agree, a good set of drilled rotors may not crack, but is what the OP considering buying a quality rotor?? Personally I have my doubts.

good lord gents... can't we all just get along.

the only reason i am looking at the slotted and drilled ones are because JCWhitney only has them listed as exact fits for my 01 cherokee. and because they can handle some hard pads without killing the rotors. if there are slotted exact fitting rotors, or non drilled non slotted rotors that are stronger and more durable then stock rotors that anyone knows of, please let me know.
but thanks very much for the input.
i was trying to figure out what SPOBI was. and damn was it funny when saw the post above this one.

and what is OP?

Bogus Information????

Those pics of cracked cross drilled rotors sure are bogus!!!

Its not the drilling that causes the cracks, its the cheap *** metal some rotors are made of, or there drilled factory rotors not designed to be cross drilled.

Im not here to argue......after working on cars for 8 years Ive seen this very thing. I hate to see someone spend their money on crap parts, only to hear that they have to replace them again in 6 months. At $55 Im willing to bet there not the best thing out there. I replaced my rotors last summer and it took 3 weeks of shopping and deciding (was thinking slotted) , I finally went with Brembo replacement rotors and they were $80 each. Yeah may be high, but I KNOW im going to be able to stop when I hit that pedal.

I also went to that website. All that company does is machine/drill rotors........but where do they get those rotors from? They say nothing about manufactruing their own rotors. Cheap China? Factory rotors no made to be drilled? WAL-MART???

OP = Original Poster = YOU!:wave:

As said above, I replaced mine with Brembo direct replacement rotors. I got them through Tire Rack at my discount. They list for appx $80 ea.

Powerslot is another good rotor Ive seen on track cars, race cars, and other performance vehicles. I think there a tick over $100 ea. The slots do the exact same thing as cross drilling, evacuate gasses, cool, and give the pad a little extra bite.

You can get either of these at Tire Rack, or other places.
FWIW, Ive had good luck in the past with NAPA rotors on other vehicles.

4SEVEN3, you do realize I was just spelling out the definition right? I don't believe your info to be bogus, but I do challenge that an "onroad" Jeep would need drilled rotors.

Offroading, or oversized tires, and drilled rotors may be a great expenditure of money though.

Oh yeah........I realize that! Thanks for defining it for me!

IMO, its not weather its onroad or off road, but adding oversized tires could definitly benefit from higher performance brake parts since you have much more rotating mass to slow.

Looks to me like those were some factory rotors drilled out and not taken care of. Look at the edges, they are worn much more then the rest and look at the wear from the pad rivets. I am not trying to negate your arguement, because I have also seen cheap drilled rotors crack at the holes, but a better example would have reinforced your arguement much better.

you said exactally what i said, i called SPOBI on crossdrilled rotors cracking.....not on cheap cross drilled, or OEM drilled rotors cracking

I suppose I could have been a little vague. Point is, like everything you get what you pay for, and I think at $55 your not getting much though I could be wrong. I was also trying to make the OP aware of a situation that could possibly arise and potentialy hazardous, I dont fu!ck around with safety items. Wasnt trying to start a big issue.

so the ones for 46 bucks are good rotors that will handle whatever type of pads i use? i just want to be sure that the rotors are not crappy and are a good brand that are durable and reliable.
thanks,
