Hello all,

I need to know if the coolant flush procedure is the same for the CRD and the gas WKs. If not, could someone direct me towards a “how-to guide” for flushing the coolant of the CRD?
I did a quick search on the WK & XK Forum with keywords “coolant, flush, CRD”, but nothing came up.

Thanks,
PD

I haven't seen a guide specificaly for this but usually you:

First get the right fluid from mopar and mix it with distillated water as per instruction.

Open the reservoire and unplug lower rad hose and capture fluid... The reservoir should empty itself.

To fill, make sure lower hose is connected and start filling from the uper hose as much as you can and plug back the hose. Then fill reservoir. Squeeze the uper hose to circulate fluide and adjust from reservoire.

... Maybe this is an "old school" way, but thats what I would do :\

I didn't think coolant flushed were vehicle specific.

You CAN utilize the vehicle's water pump to do the flushing for you.

Simply unhook a section of the coolant line. Run the flowing end (exit end) to an empty pail, crimp off the other end. have a buddy start the engine for you, fill the reservoir as fast as its draining until nothing but clean coolant comes out. I would suggest that the coolant be somewhat warm while doing this so that the thermostat stays open.

I learned this when doing it to my buddy's 1-ton diesel. Works like a charm, the prep work took the longest, less than 5 min once the prep work was done.

Maybe someone has a flow chart for the coolant on here? Then maybe a good disconnect point to do this from?

I think we did it from a turbo coolant line (this way it was easily controllable.)

Anyone know what this part number is?

I figure I can get the dealer to look it on Monday, but would like to order one before Monday.
In the diagram. The DIesel Fuel return hose going over the themostat has a clamp #3 (part 05175594AA) - and this attaches to one of the plastic parts with the o-ring. It's like a 90-degree plastic elbow held in place with a spring clip.. part is stamped PA612GF20

I need this plastic 90 degree elbow.

You have to remove this to change out the termostat, and when I did it snapped.

Uhoh... You'll probably need the whole return tube line. I now a 5/32 inch barb x barb splicer (i have the black plastic one it works great) to link up the the tube if its cutted, but here humm not sure if there is anything to replace that :( on that tube everything is tighten with notourious Oteiker clips ... Germans love those :\ they are everywhere on bmw's ...
Like I said in another thread, on the europart website they list it at 188$ but nobody ever tried it on a jeep. The mopar part for jeep is listed at near 300$ :(
