though the mileage does bother the hell out of me, having to get gas every 200 miles or so is even more annoying. I couldnt imagine anything getting less range then my 300 mile explorer until I got this thing. My tank right now is dented in, and holds about 17 gallons. I want to just replace it, with something bigger then the stock 19 gallons that wont take up a whole lot more space, or, hang lower anyway.

hi somewhere there is a mod to change a 15 gal into 19 gal, has to do with some kind of hose in tank, that you cut out? and gets you bigger capacity, though fuel sender remains the same................. 15 gal tank is the same tank as 19 gal, it comes that way from factory............................:)

whats the point of a larger gas tank- you will be burning more fuel, hauling around... more fuel. make sense? not really. you up it 4 gallons, you gonna add weight causing you to burn more fuel. doesnt make sense to me....

does gas mileage improve when you remove the spare tire? Gas weighs roughly 8lbs per gallon. if we added 4 more gallons? 30 pounds??? how much of a difference could that possibly make in fuel consumption when it could increase the range by 60 mi...i've made several 1600 mile road trips and stopping to fill up every 150-175 miles to make sure i don't miss the next gas station gets old.

2 ways to get more range out of a tank of gas. Get better gas mileage (which the general consensus says can't happen in a jeep ) or a BIGGER TANK

high on fumes

any possibility of mounting a removable secondary fuel cell in the cab that would drain into the main tank on command?

fill em both..wait for main tank to be low and then flip a switch or a valve and gas from cell drains into the main tank to refill it on the go....

800 bucks is a lot for an extra jerry can worth of gas. maybe a swing out with jerry cans would be the economic way to improve gas range. if you didn't mind stopping to refill.

Where can I find this mod?

Gasoline weights 6.2 lbs per gallon.
Actually, it's 8.33 lbs/gallon. Look here.

As a matter of fact, milk weighs 8.33 lbs per gallon, so does water, or tea, or beer, or.....

Later,
