automated car washes i have had no damage to my grille or emblems. i did take it to a self wash and managed to make some tears using the high pressure hose like 2 inches away from the grille.

I have used it on many of my vehicles. Just don't go crazy on spraying mere inches from the surface that is painted. It will hold up just fine. It's really great stuff!

I plasti-dipped my wheels in the beginning of June of this year...so about 5 months ago. If I recall correctly, I did 5 coats. Just yesterday I noticed that it was starting to peel on the edge of two of my wheels. Nothing too bad, but definitely peeling a little. I took it through an automated car wash today and it didn't seem to make it any worse. Though I'm probably going to have to peel it all off soon and either redo it or just paint them.

I would just paint them. It's more work but then your done. I painted my wheels two years ago and they look exactly the same as they did then. A nice coat of wax in the spring and fall and your good to go.
But what about those with the Limited chrome clad wheels? Seems like Plastidip is our only option, unfortunately. Would you paint over the plastic?

I personally would try to trade those suckers on CL. There are alot of people who would consider it a step up to "chrome". You could probably even get a few bucks for them w/ trade. You could also paint them if prepped properly.

I really only see PD useful as a test run to see if you like the look. I tried it once and wasn't impressed. It's only temp. It may last longer for some then others but it's still only temp.

I can take some tomorrow for ya if I remember
Thank you kind sir.

I will plasti dip mine first just to assure I like the look, even though I'm 90% sure I will. What type of paint did you use and did you have to sand paper them down first?

here ya go bud. two of the wheels with plastidip are in really good shape, the other two not so much.

so this one is the worst of all 4. it's pretty bad, I could probably peel it all off right now

this is the other one with just a little peeling

and here's that same wheel, just the whole thing. as you can see, it still looks pretty good overall (thats just dirt on the right towards the middle!) but the outer rim is peeling

I plastidipped (3 coats) my wheels some time this spring or summer I believe. So far they are not peeling at all, but I have only put a couple thousand miles on them (sad to say I winterized the bike last weekend).

As far as the edges peeling, I would also guess that could have to do with how you do the edges. I personally used index cards and made sure to get complete coverage and remove them before it dried. I even have a fairly big bubble in mine that hasn't popped yet even with pressure washing (I think I touched it while it was drying and stuck to my finger).

I will say though it is only temporary. I will be painting my wheels next spring (no reason to put fresh paint through the beating of Wisconsin winter roads). Mine are turning a shade of brown already, it just depends on your brake pads and how much dust they make (I have cheap pads from O'Reilly that make much more dust than I'd like). I used a scrub sponge on them a couple weeks ago and it cleaned them pretty good, but still not as black as I would like. If you tried you could get it off with a pressure washer, but you'd have to try.

That's probably why mine look like that, I didn't really pay attention to the edges

I'll probably just paint my wheels. My buddy cleans out foreclosed homes as part of his job and he recently found a powder coater.
