i've searched rocky road outfitters and a lot of good and bad things have been said about them. I'm specifically interested in their high steer setup for SOA. I know it's a little costly but looks like it works. Looking for comments from people who have that setup and how they like it. Or from people who have dealt with RRO in the near past.

Thanks

Assuming you're referring to this goofy drag link:

Here's the problem. No matter how many bends you put in the drag link to connect the ends, it's an imaginary straight line drawn from one end to the other that determines the drag link angle. If that angle isn't parallel to the tie-rod you WILL have bump steer. Those bends are just snake oil.

I'm looking at this kit. I am putting pieces together for a SOA. Want to do factory cj springs but toyings with yj spring idea. Running 35s with all I6, T5, dana 300 and Dana 30 with amc 20. axles built up of course

If your going to build up the axles, Like you say.
Then you need to consider going with different knuckles. Some Dana 44 outers with the passenger side milled and drilled for high steer with a good high steer arm to get the drag link up high (Crossover Steering) will set you straight.
Or, some Armless knuckles - like the ones in my pictures. And get both, Drag link and Tie rod up high (full high steer) out of the way of any harm.
Everything I have read about Rocky Road kits are just that- A rocky experience when it fails on you

x2 with everyone so far, but to add something else to your proposed setup you said your going soa so i assume 35's or larger? i would consider axle upgrades and a tranny upgrade. also, you mentioned possibly going with yj springs up front, that is an excellent idea. if your changing springs its the best time to do it and its a cheap upgrade in comparison to a good soa setup.

a few reasons i don't want to upgrade axles is that i have 2 sets of widetracs on hand. And i've acquired 4.56 gears front and rear. and a locker for the rear already. looking for one for the front yet. I will truss the rear and probably add an anti wrap bar of some sort. I like the looks and the cleanliness SOA offers. Do I need SOA? Not by a long shot. I use my jeep a lot on the farm and play in the creek twice a month. but thats basically it. And i need bragging rights over my brothers 800A scout he's so proud of. I'm not on a time crunch so i'll add pieces and parts together over time so i'll have it all ready to go when the time goes. I'm just trying to get my steering right because i drive this jeep down the road a lot.

those knuckles you show are a direct replacement? what's a set like that set you back? also i have a couple international scouts in the back yard, would the knuckles off them work?
Yes, either waggy or Chevy 44 flat tops will work if you want to go Crossover on the passenger side knuckle for the drag link. Or a new set of Armless 44's will work on your D30.
Check out (Parts Mike) under the Dana 44 section for all the parts needed or find a junk yard set of knuckles and send one or both to him to mill and tap.
Don't be afraid to give them a call if you have any questions. nice guys, and know their stuff.
