I've got an 86 CJ7 and plan on putting on white wagon wheels. I know folks either love them or hate them but I like the nostalgia of runing the whities.

My problem is that I'd rather go with new rims but, based on reading a few previous threads, some new rims don't let you run the stock hub caps. I'm not sure if I care though, but I'd like to see the difference in running the white wagon wheels with and without the stock caps. I'd also appreciate if you let me know what brand of rims you're running. So far I know of Cragar, ProComp, and AWC making white wagon wheels but I really can't tell any difference between them. Any help, pics, advice is greatly appreciated!

Here is my 86 with white spokes on it. I was not going to replace the wheels when I got it, but it had some sad car tires on it and I wanted 30/950/15 BFGs on it. The stock steel wheels were to narrow for the BFGs so they put these on it and they came with chrome lug nuts and center caps from discount tire. I love the look of them myself.

The stock caps won't fit if I understand correctly because the stock caps bolt on thru holes in the rim. I imagine you could drill the holes in the rims if you wanted to though.

Here's mine, I don't have any center caps though.. Not stock either..

Here's my 1985 Spring Special with the 7" wide ones. I'm getting my spare from Summit for $49.00! I believe the stock ones are Cragar Keystones. I didn't even know that center caps came with or could go on these!

What does everyone recommend...15x7 or 15x8? I'm not going to be rock crawling or anything; maybe a little mud here and there. At best might put 33s on mine but right now have 31s (which are about max my rig can handle as-is). I have 15x7 right now. Will putting 15x8 make much difference? Do I need any special backspacing (other than the stock 3.75") or anything?

I dunno about the 8's. The 7s on mine are wide enough for me, and I've read that I can even go as far as 255/70-15 if I wanted to on these rims. I have 225/75's on them now.

Depends on the size of tire. Typically, tire manufacturers suggest a 7" for up to a 10.50 tire. If you go wider, you should get 8's. You will also hear of folks running 12.50's on a 7", but to each his own. A 31x10.5 will fit on either 7's or 8's equally well.

33's can be had in a 10.50 (BFG A/T and M/T) but are typically 12.50 wide from everyone else. If you are buying Cragars new, I'd definitely go with 8's so you have the option

As posted earlier, a 255 is a 10", 265 is about 10.5" wide (divide by 25.4mm/in to change metric to inches) 225/75/15's are tiny. (28x9.0 R15)

My jeep above is running the OEM 15x7's with 33x10.50 tires. I've had 15x8's with 33x12.50's and 35x12.50's on other CJ's. I travel a road that is gravel. The current combo keeps the tires within the stock flares. With the wider combo's I often caught a rock with my arm (window down, arm on door). Doesn't happen with the skinny set up.

I have them on my 82 cj7 they look good and fit almost every tire out there. You can custom them how ever which way you want. Pinstrip to match a custom paint whatever you want.
Here is the other thing ;if you bend them they can be heated and bent back in place to hold air.the Aluminum rims you can't and there done.
