It must be something like this. I had the shop redo the alignment and I put in new wheel hubs. Still wanders all over the road like God’s arm just pushes the Jeep side to side randomly. Gonna call IRO tomorrow to ask them.
I’ve seen “the cure”.. they advertise it’s for OE set ups and they’re out of stock. Haven’t tried harder to find them since it says OE. Do they work on over the knuckle set ups?
Yeah they have it for factory and one ton tre.

Ok! See if I can get a couple opinions on this now.
So to recap, the ZJ has new hubs, new gear box, IRO otk steering kit, IRO 3.5” suspension, on 31” duratracs and has had three alignments, right?

An adjustable IRO rear track bar fixed the God’s hand pushing you around issue, but now the Jeep gets squirlie when you let off the throttle and the Jeep just likes to lose its mind randomly when you let off the throttle. I was on the freeway doing 60mph and let off the throttle.. I heard a grinding noise in the front end, primarily in the front passenger side, and felt that squirlieness of the front end wanting to lose its mind. It’s got the quadratrac. It did this before (never heard the grinding) but the Jeep was SO squirlie, I didn’t zone in on it.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? I think it has had a ton of issues and this might be my last one.

I REALLY appreciate everyone’s thoughts.

Edit: that’s not tie rod roll right? I know it was said that might be the issue but IRO said this set up should NOT need the “cure” and they weren’t even sure it would work on their steering kit

when you say it wants to lose its mind are you talking about a death wobble?

No, it’s not as out of control as a death wobble. It’s a veering problem. After I posted this, the dang front end is moaning and clicking. I think the quadratrac or front diff is having issues? Gonna start with checking the fluid……. …….

I am wondering if the growling noise maybe be the NP249 fluid coupler going bad. I do not have experience with it as I replaced my 249 with a 242. Everything thing I read on the 249 said noises to a shanking front end. Maybe Timo or one of the others can chime in specifically.

Alright, just to put this thread to bed. It was bad cv axles. 🤦🏼‍♂️
Rubber boots were clean with no grease seepage so I didn’t suspect them. In fact they looked new-ish. Nope, must’ve been reman’s, they were flippy floppy as could be. So $130 for new axles is a lot cooler than quadratrac issues.

thanks everyone!!

Your wandering steering was solved by replacing the cv axle-shafts?
This is what I'm wondering as well. Bad axle shaft joints shouldn't cause wandering, it's pretty much always caused by worn or loose steering/ suspension components, or incorrectly adjusted angles.

I hope I was describing it correctly through out the saga, but a lot of the wandering had been fixed and what remained was the growling as you let off the throttle and wild movement in the wheels at the same time. It was slower than death wobble but still the wheels veered side to side.

the old set of tires had a deep band of wear on the inside of the tire on the passenger side while the tires only had 20k miles on them. I think the CV axle was horribly bad (I cut off the boot and can tell you it was jacked). The boot was supporting the joint mostly, looked like.

This was a money pit of a problem for me though because I didn’t think it made sense either, that’s why it’s the last dang part I replaced.
