I commute through 5 jurisdictions along 55-65mph freeway. Traffic tends to flow 10-15 above that ALL the time. Randomly each jurisdiction will do some form of speed enforcement and just pick cars out of the pack.

I prefer to know FIRST when they are randomly picking cars out of the pack so that it is not me. So I run a V1. Worth every penny.

Took the suction cups out of the mount and screwed it to the header.

Mute switch on turn signal stalk.

THAT is magical. Any issues at all with this? proper angle, etc?

I'm gonna have to order another mount b/c I use it in another car. wow! :cheers2:
No. It has a perfectly clear sightline front to back and sits perfectly level.

It hides VERY VERY well. It is actually in EVERY picture I have ever taken of the Jeep but blends so well you never notice it.

Can you see it in the below picture? I had to "enhance" the photo, crop, etc to make it show up better to post here.

More often than not the officers around here just leave the radar on. CSP is the one exception that ALWAYS runs with it off.

I have been on both sides of the radar/laser gun. I prefer the added situational awareness a GOOD detector brings with it.

Like I mentioned above. I use it to avoid being the radom pick of the day when cruising with the flow of highway commuter traffic.

wow your jeep can break the speed limit!

Mine will pull at least 80mph which means it can violate EVERY speed zone in my state from 10 mph to 75!!

Nothing can defeat instant on.......
IF you are the ONLY car on the road this is true. How often are you on vacant roads these days? There is at least 1 other car ahead of you somewhere within the range of the radar detector to trigger the cops radar first 95% of the time. That is a large enough percentage to make the use of the detector valid. Will it warn you 100% of the time? No. Could it save you more than the cost of the detector by saving you 1 time? Yes!

VASCAR was mainly used in the 1960 and 1970 because it was the ONLY way to time speed at the time.

As radar and laser technology increased the use of VASCAR has significantly decreased. Less than half of the states use it at all, and mostly just on open highways, not in city limits.

Most states won't use just a point to point speed estimate from the officer either(officer would need a "certified" stop watch and have to prove distances, etc). Too easy to beat in court, and a waste of the courts time these days. If VASCAR is used at all it is usually with a VASCAR timing device.

NOBODY in this thread has ever eluded to that idea that a radar detector/locator is a 100% effective method of avoiding a speeding ticket. It is however an extra tool in your tool belt to help you avoid one.
