The plans I have to make this a expedition rig will include a rough country winch mount and i think I and going to go with the engo 10000lbs winch with synthetic rope I will mod my brush guard to keep the top half, the rear will be the stock bumper but add a swing away tire carrier that includes a spot for one or two jerry cans, and also do a tank tuck to improve departure angle.

Since this is going to be a expedition build, I am going to end up on 33s or 32s, with IOR long arms and 4" springs, I also have plans to include lockers, rock rails, on board air, and of course a way to pack all my camping gear.

Sub'd up!
I've really been getting into thinking about expedition rigs. I think my current YJ will be pulling triple duty: DD, Crawler, Expedition...Should be pretty sweet!
Have you decided on a tire size yet? And I saw on FB that you're thinking about an autolocker in the rear, I really think you should reconsider this.

Anyways, looking good!

Cheers

Thanks it's a work in progress. Yeah I can tell your kinda into the expos, your subbed on a bunch of expedition threads, lol I am still back and forth between 32s or 33s. As far as autos in the back, kinda the same idea of the stock vari lockers in the limiteds and overlands, so why not, it will save coin and I think with a front selectable the rear won't matter as much.

Been even rethinking my lift options, might end up doing a 3" BDS lift depends on tire size, if I want 33s I have to go at least 4" long arms.

Haven't seen anything new on your build how is that going?

Seeing as you are more interested in the overlanding/expedition style rig, perhaps this thread from Expo Overland (love that forum) may give you some ideas: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/60827
Yeah that's kinda the way I am headed, I have peaked at that forum a few times :thumbs up: after I am done with my Wj I will be starting a HF trailer build for going in the back country, but that's not for a little bit, got to finish this

Oh I totally understand that. An m116A would be awesome to have for off roading. Most of my mods in the last year have been survival type ones I learned from ExPo, i.e. stocking up survival gear, etc. I noticed you mentioned wanting to be able to pack all your gear in your rig. Maybe building a shelf out of simple plywood as a temporary solution?

I know this is not a WJ, but the idea is the same and you can fit a lot more stuff below and on top of the shelf. I tied mine down so that it does not shift, even when I'm bouncing over boulders.

Yeah when I go camping I take my system out and I got some shelfs, been thinking about take the sound system completely out and build it out of aluminum, was thinking I could use some heavy ball bearing sliders and make it lockable to fit a two ARs and two tactual shotguns, with ammo/ stuff to maintain them, that way they can be stored safe and secured, and the other side I could set up for recovery gear, tools and a air compressor for airing back up and running some air tools. On top set it up with tie downs all around

So I have to fix a few things with my Wj, which has changed my plan of a second trail rig, for now :) back to Wj building lol, first off I am going to be replacing my front axle shafts, they are starting to make some noise, then it's off to getting my winch mount mounted and put a winch on it, bushwacker flares are in the mix, maybe after trimming for those I can stuff 32s lol. also I will be fabbing up sliders and tire carrier in the next month, cash is their :) it's just time now.

I had to go play rescue rig tonight and pulled my friends truck out of the ditch and when I got back I found out that my wife ordered me IROs budget sliders :-D

I was going to build my own but she was so proud of her self for getting me something for the Wj that I needed. I can't brake her heart and tell her lol
