I'm getting ready to 'modify' my existing stock CJ front fenders and turn them into Tube Flat fenders.

What is a good size of tubing to use? And thickness?

I'm thinking 3/4" or 1" (max) OD...and maybe 0.065" wall thickness? I need to be able to bend it with a hand tube bender.

Who has done this before?

In my opinion, too small and thin. I'd at least use 1.5" .095 wall. But you can get away with that if you are just looking for the looks of it. I always beef up the mounts too. Use 3/16 full length plate on the grill and body mounting locations.

Are these just for show or may one day be slammed into a rock? If just for show those sizes are perfectly okay. If you may slam them into a rock one day I'd go 1.5" or 1.75" tube, but then you'd need a tube bender.
