I come here about every year or 2, amazed it still exists. It was very busy back in the day and died within months of being sold. Facebook didn't do it.

the decline of car forums is pretty universal, not at all limited to this one

It's not just car forums. Forums in general are dying a slow, agonizing death. Facebook Groups are part of the reason, but also the younger generation's shift away from thought out, text-based interaction and toward brief videos (tiktok, facebook/instagram reels, etc).
A typical 18 year old today doesn't have the attention span to find a forum on the internet, type up a descriptive post, and then wait on a reply.

Exactly.
Most people are watching 15 second clips and scrolling/flipping whatever constantly.
