What did you do to your ZJ today?

This thread is to serve as an inspiration to others modifying their ZJ's. Pretty simple, just post what you did to your ZJ today!

Today I shamefully took my Jeep to get the oil changed because it was to hot to change it myself.

Not much, but decided to replace my battery terminal connectors today, the old ones were all dinged up and didn't clamp down very well.

You will have to pardon the iPhone 3gs picture, but I finally put my headliner back in. It's been out of the jeep for two weeks (working on it periodically) to have the old/stained/sagging fabric removed and replaced with something....not so stock.

hey chetzar, where did you get the material for this....realtree right??
Aye, it is RealTree AP fabric. It ran me $13/yard, and required 3 yards (including center console which I cut from excess hanging over the back of the headliner)
keylessride.com they sell them for about $50, and the website will tell you how to program it.
I did this, aside from it being "carbon fiber" patterned, it seems like a well built remote (i've had mine for 6 months or so)
Deleted the Gold pinstripping by covering it with black pinstripping. I am happy with how it looks from a distance but up close its noticable if your looking for it. It is an amazing temporary fix, now I just need to get rid of the rest of the gold.

What pin striping did you use to cover the gold? I've been wanting to remove my gold pin striping, but its under the clear, and would much prefer like a solid black stripe.
By no means got it finished today, but started the intake manifold, plenum, and valve cover gaskets. Picks to come when it's all said n done!
Not exactly the Jeep, but it's going in the Jeep - started pulling the motor from my dads old 1994 Dodge Ram to do a "refresh" on and then drop in the ZJ.
He bought the truck new, and as a mechanic, always took good care of the engine.
150k on it, idles and runs smooth as a top, burns just a small amount of oil (half a quart between oil changes).

Still working on pulling the motor, things are going a bit slower than I anticipated, but I am also being more meticulous than originally planned. No broken electrical connectors or bolts so far. Just need to unbolt the rest of the exhaust manifold, transmission and motor mounts and she should be free.

This past weekend was finally nice enough to finish pulling the motor (I had to let the back of the truck hang out of the garage and it has been raining/cold every weekend since I started).

Pulled engine and transmission as one, not sure what I am going to do with the transmission yet since it won't fit in the Jeep.

Once I take the transmission off, I'll mount it on the engine stand.

Edit: I'll add the rest of the photo's when I get home - the mobile version won't add more than one picture.

Worked on the 94 this weekend, water pump was shot (pics below).
Radiator, AC Condenser, and Tranny Cooler are all getting replaced. Any suggestions for the Trans Cooler to keep the elbows from leaking? Mine are and they gave the AC Condenser a nice coating of fluid.

I had ordered a KOR Radiator support a while back. Went to install it and it did not fit (not wide enough). Turns out the Jeep was in a collision at some point and it tweaked the passenger frame rail a bit in the front. Things were off by 1/8th to 1/4th. I talked to Kevin's and they asked me to send them the measurements so they could ship me a new one (and I was willing to pay for shipping of the new one and return shipping - it's not their fault, but they said "nope, we'll send a return label"). Sent the measurements over, never heard back (almost two months ago). So, yesterday I pulled the frame rails some to straighten them out and I stretched the KOR support a tiny bit. Fits great now.

I had already replaced the water pump, now I can move on to the Radiator, AC Condenser, and Transmission Cooler.

And given that I am working from home for the foreseeable future, I should have PLENTY of time.

Glad you got it figured out but just FYI. KOR closed months ago. I think they're just selling overstock at this point.

Wow, I had no idea. Glad I was able to get one before they were all gone.

Edit: Are you sure they closed? The Facebook page has posts about bringing stuff back into production and fabricating new stuff in March.

No pics at the moment, but I've been working on replacing the Water Pump (done), Radiator, AC Condenser, and Trans Cooler. In the process, since I got the time, I've been cleaning stuff up as I go (mostly cleaning off grease).

Specifically, last night:
Painted Radiator brackets
Painted Fan (not the clutch, just the fan)

To do list:
Install Fan/Clutch
Install Radiator
Install AC Condenser
Install Trans Cooler (has not arrived yet)
Order new front bumper (will happen today)

Also need to find new radiator isolators/bushings, they seem to be a bit pricey for rubber at $30+ for the pair.

Ya know, just trying to polish the turd, err Jeep...

This reply shows the new and old Mopar J0687 550 radiator grommets for my ZJ.

This reply shows my cleaned / painted radiator support and tow hook parts.
TY for the part number (I have been having a hard time finding it), but for the love of Cthulhu, there has got to be an aftermarket solution - $40 with shipping for two pieces of rubber is absurd.
New Trans Cooler showed up the other day. I bit the bullet and ordered the Mopar Radiator Bushings, once they get here, I can put everything back together. In the meantime, I have been cleaning things up and painting some misc items.

Also, ordered a Trail Ready front bumper on Monday - they said it should ship the last week of April / first week of May.
No work on my ZJ yesterday, but still got some wrenching in installed a leveling kit and new front sway links on a Ram 1500.

Been doing a fair bit of work on the Jeep as of late. All started with a Radiator, Trans Cooler, AC Condenser, and Water Pump replacement.

Decided to clean stuff up and paint it while I had it apart and have the time (cleaning off as much rust as I can, putting rust converter primer, then engine enamel on the stuff I am painting).

Additionally, I have recently ordered a Trail Ready Bumper (should ship this week), a 4.5 IRO Long Arm kit from Kolak, and a Protofab Dual Swing Arm Rear Bumper (Tire Mount and Jerry Can holder).

Next month I'll be ordering tires.

Pics of some of the stuff I have cleaned up/painted and stuff that got replaced.

Good catch. That's one of the bolts that always breaks, that explains why. I won't even mess with a housing, they're basically a throw away item. And the old hose might not like a new housing.. Just had to deal with that bs. New hose + new housing = good times.
Yeah, I'm not really loving the way the old housing cleaned up, so gonna snag a new one.

Good catch on the intake leak Wingless - somehow I had overlooked that, intake gaskets are now on the docket for this weekend - only problem I'm having is finding new plenum bolts without ordering them online OR getting the Doorman kit (which I'd rather avoid, not a big fan of Doorman Gaskets/bolts). The semi-frustrating part is that I've already replaced the plenum pan and gasket with the Hughes kit once, and TBH, I was not very impressed by the Hughes kit.

I will most likely bite the bullet and order new bolts from Rockauto, because IIRC they are not reusable.
Did not do anything to my Jeep, but I did use it to help a friend :)

We towed his 408 stroker- equipped ZJ (ZG) across town. Trailer + Jeep was about 6400lbs, my niner pulled it like a champ. Tow rating for the ZGs is ~7700lbs, so it was easily within towing limit.
Friends' winch controller was dead, so we pulled his Jeep onto the trailer with my Jeep. 4lo 1st gear -> it literally pulled it up at idle, zero throttle input.

Curious - why does the ZG have a higher tow rating than the ZJ? I thought the ZJ 5.2 was rated at 6500lbs and the 5.9 was lower (like 5500lbs) due to cooling constraints.

Yesterday I received my KOR Rear Bumper - dual swing arm version. I've definitely been slacking on the Jeep side of things this summer - we had multiple extended trips to Colorado, some indoor house projects that needed attention, and some outdoor house projects as well. Next step is to get this guy powder coated - as you can probably see, the front bumper is still on the pallet as well (from Trail Ready) - need to get the rear powder coated to match the front.
