for me, all i did today was take pictures of my newly cut front bumper.

Built some new shackles. The old ones couldn’t hang.

Finally scored a used factory tint rear hatch window glass....
Had a search up for ages and All I found were the whole tailgate with insane shipping cost to boot
but I found a nice removed one with free ship and @ 170.00 I jumped on it.
Now to get it installed, I am thinking I will take the jeep to this family owned window glass place
as I just don't feel that confident of doing it without issue and buying the sealant and all is pretty expensive
compared to the 50.00 they quoted me, which I thought was reasonable, granted the tailgate is stripped down
from the rewire and although I would want to keep the original glass, severely scratched and clear but even so
in its condition better to have an emergency spare to get by.

What year are you dealing with?
Reason I ask is cause hatch glass molding for '97 and up has been unavailable for quite sometime.
When I did mine my glass guy said I had to get the molding.
At the time didn't think much of it cause back then it was still available.
Turns out there is no OEM type aftermarket support for it.
He charged me $100 to remove the glass from the donor Jeep, remove mine, and install the new glass in mine.
Which I thought was more then reasonable.
and at the time it was $32 out the door for the molding.
Did you check the rear defogger?
I always assumed it was one big circuit.
So you check for continuity. Put a probe to each tab, get a beep, and good to go.
What I think anyway.
LOL.

I know about this molding trim issue, I really don't know what to do about it.
I have made a serious long term parts accumulation effort, quite frankly an above and beyond
effort over several years, and I managed to score many parts, rubber pieces. before they were gone,
this however, was not one of them. I do see some aftermarket rubber trim pieces which less than ideal
may, possibly work though certainly not like the OEM, Besides the fact the original is clear the horrendous deep scratched original has to be replaced, the effort put in so far to the build demands it.

Do you remember what the profile looks like?

It’s got some dings and dents, but it’s pretty clean as far as rust is concerned. And yeah gas prices in CT suck. I mostly buy diesel, and those prices suck even more.

Dings and dents are easy enough to take care of . I always envied the 'rustless' Jeeps pictured here .
Michigan salt rusting the frame through on our '95 XJ was the biggest reason we traded it .
I likely wouldn't loose much sleep if I owned fairly rust free XJ . ;)

Well buy this one. It will be for sale in a few weeks.

Ha . The deals always seem to happen at the worst times for me .
All non essential funds are being channeled toward buying a new to us home .
We've been on the road full time RVers for going on 14 years . My wife wants a base to travel from and I'd like some kind of shop to tinker in . ;)

What are you doing to that poor Jeep ? ;)

Bought the Jeep like this. Clean XJ but was cheap because the motor sounded terrible. I’m just getting it back in shape so someone else can love it again.

Skirt issues are more common than people like to talk about on these engines. I’ve seen quite a few failed piston skirts.

Hmm , I might have seen only one other skirt 'missing' .
I guess we were fortunate to have never had a problem , motor wise , with our XJ .
Put a new adjustable track bar on it. That job was harder than I thought. Problems with access, old rusted bolts, and no lift. It's done now. Hopefully I can get a decent alignment. Onward toward the the WJ...in due time.
So a picture of the Jeep's new home.
Did an oil and filter change, greased everything, checked all the fluids, new air filter, and wiper blades.
Slight problem with the oil filter though.
I restocked on my Napa Gold 1085's awhile back. And while they are rebranded Wix due to covid and supply chain issues they are made by some company out of Germany.
Can't recall who something H_____ & M______ I think.
I use an oil filter cap. Helps to not whack the oil pressure sending unit and since I plumbed it those fittings it sticks out that much farther.
And my hands don't really work as well as they used to so when putting on the filter I do it hand tight the best I can, put the oil cap back on, and give it a little extra.
I find it I don't do that a little tiny bit of oil wants to come out between the adapter and the filter at the bottom.
So the new filters are fluted at the top, sorry I should have taken a picture, and I can not use my oil filter cap on it.
So I cranked it the best I could with my hands and we will see what happens.
What also worries me is trying to get it off in October for the next oil change.
Doubt I will be able to get it off with hands and thinking now I will have to buy an oil filter wrench,
Hoping I can get it in there and not bang on the sensor while doing it.
Going to go to the store and see if we sell a cap for this type of filter.
But also hoping that regular Wix filters are back in stock and swap the other 2 I have in stock for them.
Just wished I noticed this before.
Oh well.
LOL.

So have had a blown driver's side fog light since last Winter and finally got around to swapping another one in.
Had 2 brand new, left and right, fog lights still in "stock" so installed both of those.
Figured this way both would match.
Also figure replace the blown bulb in the one and have 2 used ones in "stock" for the next time.
Also got around to vacuuming the Jeep.
After the move And Winter it was kind of a mess in there.
Still needs a good cleaning and detailing and will get that done in time.

Very advanced mod this week. I glued the rear view mirror back to the windshield in my Comanche. It was in the floor 2.5 years ago when I bought it. Now it is back on the windshield lmao.
