You never had to loosen the 5 bolts that hold the steering pump in place ?

Other than a half dozen bolts to adjust a single belt , I'd say it was a pretty simple job , too .

The easiest was on a Dodge Dakota . No bolts . 'Simply' spring the tensioner .
Ya but the adjustment itself is the one long bolt under the PS pump lol. Its always been easy for me.. idk maybe its just me lol ive done alot worse..

Newer Subarus are easy as hell. You simply loosen/tighten a top bolt on the alternator. For whatever reason they got rid of the tensioner on the 2013s though.

Looks good, just make sure you brace them. I listened to 80% of JF and this happened....

But I will be doing stiffeners and bracing them tomorrow.
Well that was your first mistake. Lol

They will be braced on the bottom and eventually tied into an exo

A flat piece of steel with a slot in it is a lot less expensive than any tensioner .

Thing is, you can still put the old tensioners on them. The new belts come with some weird half circle plate things and now the belt costs more than the tensioner does.

When I changed the water pump on my 96 the other day I had to loosen the steering pump bolts to get the water pump out from underneath it.
For adjusting the belt tension, I loosened the single bolt in the center of the pulley so it could move in it's track and then just loosened the adjustment bolt.
Fortunately when loosening it I counted the how many rotations I made to the adjustment bolt and then tightened it back the same amount when putting things back together. Since I re-used the same serpentine belt I took off, it should be pretty close.
I do prefer spring tensioners though.
