Does he know that you spray painted the interior?
Don't need any comments from the street queen, it's only 2 parts anyway.

As for me I finished the front end of the lift had trouble with all the control arm bolts and had to plasma cut them off, new caliper also. the rear will come soon looks goofy though :)

that looks great. mind explaining how you installed it?

and how did you mount your gauge?...I cant figure out a way that makes any sense.
It's all Npt 1/8" fittings. Very simple. It all came from advance auto. And as far as the gauge, well I wouldn't really call it mounted. I've just got it kinda wedged by the cb. And the inside of the console. CB's under the dash on the right side.

So sun I earned myself the dunce hat. I have been working on my replacment 97 XJ which at current time is factory heigth still 2wd, but has the 4wd drive train from a 231 tcase. We have had a family friend up from Orgon who wanted pictures of Mt Rainer, so we grabbed the kids an went to the local wheeling place where there are 4 really nice looks outs at the trail heads of a couple trails. All which are accessable by a factory rig on dirt single lane roads (not 1 way). On my way down to the last look out which is a 1 lane trail in loose dirt an rocks, I come head to head with a Toy an XJ. The toy had dead brakes. Needless to say, my XJ in 4 low with only the rear wheels an factory truck tires, I couldnt back up hill. The other 2 drivers were not happy.

All in all, the XJ did great. The owner, not so.

Just need the Leafs an I can install my lift an tires an be back on the road an trail worthy.

I would but I'm making an actual box to mount, I don't really need to shape it. Now that I have my plan I just need a way to get something from one side to the other that is sturdy enough to hold but will bend to go in the holes.
Quit arguing and try fiberglass it really was MADE for stuff like that...:D Lightweight, sturdy, and very versatile. You can make it into any shape you want.

DezertTJ,
Why do you have to have a 231 for auto locker??? The 242 has the same Part Time 4hi an 4Lo as the 231 just the additional Full time 4hi.

Thanks for the link. There are intersting view points. My 97 will keep a 242.

The 231 is the stronger of the t-cases, no viscous couplings to worry about, and stronger internals
So it looks like I found a new thing to research an learn. What a Viscous Coupling is.

I am assuming thats the small gears which are arround the large drive gear which is apart of the input shaft???

that's the planetary reduction gears you're talking about. The VC works to allow slip between the front and rear axles, prevents binding the gears inside the case, it also goes bad after a while causing excessive slip and no front wheel power
